I saw a few other roll call type threads and figured I would make one for the amazing history majors attending UCLA in the Fall. Since the group of friends I do have at UCLA are all sociology and psych majors (weak) I need some people to take upper div history with! So, if you are a History major, drop a line, maybe we can all take some classes together.

why is sociology looked down upon?

Not looked down upon, I am just saying its weak cause I want to take classes with my friends.

lol alright! well best of luck with that. im sure itll be easy to make friends!

well, when are you attending orientation? I’m going to try to get into historical research, u.s. intellectual history, early Christianity, and one of those fiat lux or whatever classes, regardless of the fact it’s for freshman haha

Actually not planning to go to orientation. Seemed a bit of a waste.

I am thinking of doing directed research (199) though I am still deciding whether I want to do that my first semester.

Which US intellectual history and early Christianity class? I was thinking of doing a Christianity class and some African history.

I don’t know yet about which Christianity class. Apparently, the professor for that section is AMAZING haha! There is only one US intellectual history class, I’ll see if they offer it. Is fall schedule out yet? Ima check…

Hmm I swore there was two of US intellectual history based on time period. Maybe it was Europe though. Who is the Christianity teacher? Teo Ruiz is suppose to be the best ever, he is the chair of the department. I took history 112C and 112E in Rome last summer (UCLA travel study) before transferring with Mellor. Professor Mellor is SUPER cool. He is really laid back and easy going. I got two A- cause the TA hated me, but besides the TA, Mellor was one of the best teachers I have had (granted the only one at UCLA, but compared to my CC teachers).

Fall schedule is out june 8th I believe.

hijynx99,

what were your sociology friend’s stats? help please lol

You mean their GPA to get in and such? Most of them had 3.8 and better. None of us did extracurricular really or had any other crap. Just a straight 3.8 from CC with 60 units.

im pretty nervous…because depending if i get this C removed off my transcript ill have a 3.83…if i dont itll be about a 3.71, but i do have good ecs, no tap, and a 30hr week job…so idk?

Oh so you haven’t gotten in yet? 3.7 should be fine. I didn’t do tap either.

lol no, fall 2010 =) best of luck with you though!! if i get in we should all meet up lol

oh yeaaah. man. seven more days… I can’t even remember the teachers name. it’s prolly that dude… yeah, they do have European intellectual history, which I would like to take as well. how many credits are you going to take first quarter?

Teo teachers like 15 different classes, so probably. He usually only teaches a few classes a quarter now though.

I am shooting for just 12. See how it goes, if it’s not too bad, I will jump to 16. Want to make sure I transition ok.

well, I hope to meet you there… http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=505215516&ref=profile

For the prospective History transfer to UCLA (me cough) what were your GPA’s/ EC’s, etc etc

3.7gpa, no tap, no ECs really.
