I have found this question asked in the forums - but no one seems to be able to answer it?

On the UCLA Housing Application form - where you prioritize your choices for "Room Type Preference" ... what is the difference between "Single Room (One Occupant)" and "Single Room, Shared Bath" it's the same for double and triple as well.

My son is wanted to get into the Single suites in the Residential PLAZAs (10 single rooms sharing 2 bathrooms)... what would he choose? Single Room (One Occupant), or Single Room, Shared Bath?

It's very confusing :(

Thank you for any help/insight

I’m having the same issue. I don’t know what any of this terminology means! Someone help! I’m a high school senior applying for UCLA housing.

Housing Questions:

When ranking your options, can you repeat an option more than once?

(ex: Residential Hall
Residential Hall
Residential Hall)

What is the difference between Single Room (Single Occupant) and Single Room (Shared Bath)?

What are the conditions of the shared bathrooms? How many people share them? Are they good/bad?

Are Residential Halls really cramped if you choose to room in a double or triple room?

Where do most freshmen room? If you choose to room in a Residential Plaza or Suite will there be fewer freshmen?

Is it best to room with a friend in the first year?

What should you choose as your Housing Assignment Preference if you do not have a roommate in mind?

Has anyone had experience with the “Theme Communities”? What are they like?

Dining Questions:

What is the difference between the Premier 14 and Blue 14 meal plans?

If you can answer any of my questions that would be of great help.

Thanks!

I have no idea either. I put this:

Rank in order the facility type in which you would most like to live.
- VP
- CBAPT
- SUITE

Room Type Preference
Rank in order the room type in which you would most like to live.
- Single
- Single, Shared Bath
- TWO BEDROOM/TWO PERSONS
- THREE BEDROOM/THREE PERSONS
- TWO BEDROOM/THREE PERSONS
- STUDIO/ONE PERSON

Can anyone explain what I chose? Any downfalls? Comments? Thanks!
Most importantly, I just want my own room =P

This probably belongs in the UCLA forum…if no one there can answer it, it’s time to make a phone call.

Isn’t it obvious? It literally explains itself by its description. I can see UCLA being very difficult for you guys. Can’t even put the post in the proper forum let alone understand the concept of sharing a bathroom.

This might sound like a crazy idea, but you could try calling the housing department at UCLA and asking them your question.

Crazy idea, I know…

I also aggro with that suggedon.

Especially for the people that posted the question AFTER a link to the UCLA forum was provided. In fact the link was to the UCLA forum’s Housing FAQ thread. How much better than that can you get?
