I didn’t reveive one, so what’s my chance like? - -\

I did not receive one and I apply for computer science, we will all know very shortly, I heard it might come out as early as this Friday …

Mind if you give the source? I want to look into it more.

Its from the 2009 annual report on the HSSEAS website. [HSSEAS OASA | Enrollment and Degree Statistics](http://seasoasa.ea.ucla.edu/ucee_a.html)

In looking for the source for the 2009 HSSEAS admission stats, I found the 2010 (released 12/17/10). So, number crunch away, future engineers.

It also has stats for transfers if there are any transfer applicants wandering around this page.

Interesting fact: If you add up the total admits it equals about 2000 admittances. And remember that letter from UCSD that was sent to the ‘top 2000 applicants?’ Hmm  Just some food for thought.

The total UCLA engineering admittees for 2010-2011 freshman class was 2540. But we don’t know how many of the Open House emails UCLA sent out.

But, assuming UCSD admits a similar number, then getting the email from UCSD as being among the top 2000 is a pretty good indication you are in at SD. But it also means if you didn’t get one, that doesn’t mean you are not in at SD.

I sure hope UCLA sent out less than 2540 emails. That would guarantee that all receivers of the email are in.

I am pretty excited now that I have received these emails from both UCLA and UCSD! However, I also have heard that Berkeley sends out similar letters for engineering. I have not received one which is a little saddening.

Looking around I haven’t been able to find much regarding it. I am hoping someone could shed some light on this topic :)

I did not get nothing from no one, that does not look good !!!

I did not get anything from anyone, that looks better! ;)

I did not get anything from anyone; that looks better!

limabeans and mickjagger, I think I am hosed since I did not receive anything, shoooooot

Regarding letter from Cal, I don’t think they send out such a letter. Son was accepted to UCSD, UCLA and Cal for engineering. He received letters from UCSD and UCLA. He received nothing from Cal.

Thanks for the fix mickjagger!

Theleakers, I was just reading a thread where they were talking about missing you,you had better post soon! I am sure everyone doesn’t get letters, don’t panick yet! UCSD said they sent out their e-mail to 2,000 students yet they accept over 3,000! I am sure UCLA only sends e-mails to a certain percent as well, I mean how many people can they fit into Royce Hall?

I heard that for the college of L and S, those people with really high stats get invited to some type of special college presentation. I also know that there of tons of admitted students that don’t. All these letters are is good news for some (not bad news for others).

Chin Up Man!

Here is some information for the students who applied to UCLA Engineering school.

My son got the invitation from UCLA Engineering school for their open house in April of last year. He got admitted to Aerospace and Mechanical engineering. They only invite the student and the parent (3 people maximum).

On the open day, they mentioned that they only have about 600 spots for freshmen and there were about 9000 students applied for it but as I look back at the information from last year, UCLA engineering school admitted about 2,500 students.

Now, the Royce Hall can only seat about 1800 people (maximum capacity is 1834 to be exact), that means they can only invited about 600 students and their parent on that day; that make up 1800 people. Last year, the Royce Hall was full; meaning everyone have a seat.

I do not know how they select and invite those 600 students out of 2500 students they admitted. May be randomly selection, or may be the top 600 students, whatever…

I do not think UCLA Engineering school sent out open house invitation to all 2500 students they admitted. They will not have enough seat on Royce Hall.

Students who did not receive invitation letter must find out their admission status from UCLA admission office between mid - March and April. You are not out yet. Keep hoping…

For those students who received the invitation letter need to RSVP. They need the headcount because they will provided lunch for everyone on that day .

Not every student who received the invitation attends the open house! As a matter of fact, I’d think most wouldn’t bother.

A lot of the students are admitted to other universities as well and UCLA isn’t their first choice or they are from NorCal or San Diego and do not want to drive all the way too Los Angeles. Some students are simply lazy.

Also, not all students will bring 2 people. Many will bring along only 1 parent or they might even be dropped off by themselves and attend the open house for a short period.

It’s very possible that all students that made HSSEAS received an invitation. I hear the students that the students that received the “likely letter” are all the students who were “recommended” by HSSEAS and the ones who slip through the cracks are the ones the separate, general admissions commissions admitted into HSSEAS from their own decision later.

I got the likely letter and got in for EE  And why would people not want to drive from San Diego to LA? I live in San Diego, and UCLA is the closest school I applied to besides UCSD.

Hey guys. Just for the record (and for next year’s applicants), I received a likely letter from UCLA and was admitted today.
