UCLA Likely letter..?

Basically if you don’t get this then you’re rejected then I assume

I wonder are there quite a few applicants who did not receive this letter?..It seems that most of my friends who have applied HSSEAS have received this letter…

Are they done sending out these?

I guess I didn’t get in, I applied undeclared, aerospace engineering and yet to receive a letter.

To above poster: as the former applicant said(you can search it in older posts), although getting this letter imply that you’ve got in, not having it does not mean that you’ve been rejected.

And…before the official decisions announced, nobody can make sure whether some one is in or not…

Good Luck…

Here’s a thought. guys - what do you think a College gains by sending these emails out before, repeat before a formal decision is announced ? Therein will lie the true implications ( in or out ) of this email.

The School of Engineering is separate from other colleges in that it does its own review of undergrad applications. So the admission review processes are made by School of Engineering, and then they recommend qualify applicants to the UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools.
If you got this letter, then that means the School of Engineering has decided to recommend you for admissions to the UCLA Undergrad Admissions department. Does that mean u got into UCLA with 100%? No, it just means you are recommended by School of Engineering admissions office. You still can be rejected if the Undergrad admissions dept find issues with your application, and does not want you.
For people who didn’t get this letter, you may still get in. It just means that you just aren’t in the ‘top’ of the applicant pool. School of Engineering sends out these letters to top applicants in the hopes that they will come to the Open House to learn more about UCLA, and at the Open House, they will try to convince u to choose UCLA over any other colleges u might have gotten in to.
UC Berkeley also has a similar program. They usually send out Open House invitations before the actual admissions come out to top applicants in the hopes of attracting them to their universities.

So far, all the people I know who received this letter got into UCLA. I also know people who didn’t receive this letter, and still gotten accepted to UCLA.

Undergrad applications to HSSEAS are FIRST reviewed by the general admissions board and THEN reviewed by engineering. The general admissions board can either reject an applicant outright, or pass on the application to engineering–they can NOT accept anyone. Then, out of all the applications that were passed on to engineering, the engineering school makes the final call. Sorry, Fasttrack, but your statement was not accurate.

If you got the letter, you’re in. Congratulations.
If you did not get the letter, then unfortunately the engineering school is not looking for people with your specific qualifications. (Translation: It means a rejection.)

End of thread, gentlemen?

yeah, i agree.
nothing else to talk about.

So are these letters done being sent out? Or do they continue being sent out like those UCI decisions that came in batches?

To above poster: excuse me…but have you received the letter?

I haven’t… That’s why I’m so persistent lol sorry this is all pretty depressing

this is really good news! i got one too, so happy :)

any OOS’s recieve a likely letter?

To oceanmaster33: I’m an international student and I’ve got this letter too…

S recieved letter–OOS NY (but born in CA…, would pay OOS tuition)

Should I panic? I didn’t receive one.

apHELP and spacedog, others have said that some people did not get the letter but did get in.

lol That lets me let out a sigh of relief. Although I may still very well be rejected for the engineering school, at least it isn’t set in stone. Unusual way of thinking about the situation but all I can have is hope and at least that’s not gone yet haha
