Kirbs- what about the University Apts ? those are more reasonable…

^Yes, but people are saying that transfers are last on the list, so it’s not likely to get assigned a university apartment?

I called Housing and Housing said that there are some apartments alloted for transfers but she couldn’t tell me how many or what the chances of getting the Univesity apts because she has no idea what most people will opt for…

That’s actually a little bit reassuring, haha. I’m still going to budget for a plaza room just in case, because that’s where most of the 2009 transfers on CC seemed to be placed

Step 1: Buy a van.
Step 2: Take out the back seats.
Step 3: Put your mattress and blankets in it.
Step 4: Sleep in your van.

It will save you a ton of money!

Depends what kind of van you buy. Plus you won’t be able to get cable or internet service hooked up to your van for low cost. Not to mention that you’ll be freezing your pants off during the night.

While you most likely wont get internet access supplied to your car, you can always go to the UCLA library. I think one of them is even open during the wee hours of the night.

A ton of blankets as well as a beanie and ear muffs would keep someone warm I would think. I have also read stories of people bringing sleeping bags to the library to sleep in during finals week.

Be the protagonist for the best story never told. Become a homeless UCLA student today!

You wouldn’t be the first!!

I actually read an article about a homeless UCLA student & how the free food bank helps feed him…

There is actually about 100-200 homeless students that attend UCLA.

“As homeless students struggle to pay tuition and perform in class, they are constantly searching for a place to sleep and food to eat. Some take showers in the gym, others frequently move from friends’ apartments and libraries in search of a place to crash, and many attend club meetings solely for the free food”(UCLA Daily Bruin).

Pretty intense if you ask me. I feel really bad for these people. Here is the link:

Dayum. That’s motivation right thur.

Seriously though, that’s insane. Whatever it takes to be a Bruin namsayin?

really? 100-200. that sounds like a lot. That is really sad. :-/ what about student loans. h#ll they deserve grants just for the perseverence! that is amazing.
