I've been accepted to UCSB with Regents and most likely to UCLA as well as I received the likely letter. My choice of major at both schools is Engineering.

UCLA was initially my preference, but am now seriously considering UCSB due to the Regents scholarship. Would the perks of Regents make SB a better choice? Or is it better to go to UCLA? Which school is better for engineering?

I don’t know much about UCLA other than what I’ve read and heard from students. My impression is that it is very grad focused and UG are in a sink or swim environment.

We attended a local UCSB Chancellors reception and I must say we learned about the program and the attitudes really impressed us. UCSB is undergrad focused. It has a rather small grad student population. I got the impression the Engineering faculty is accessible and involved with their students. Because of a ‘lack’ of grad students, UG’s get to become involved in research early on.
