UCLA or UCSD Help Me!!!

Well I original got accepted to UC Berkeley, UCLA and UCSD. But when my admission letter came from Berkeley it said that I was admitted for the spring semeter (2008) so that made my decision more easy just to eliminate Berkeley in general. I'm a math major for both colleges and I can't decide where to go. I want to go to SD, but my parents want me to go to LA because it's near our house ( I live in LA). I like LA because it's a tought school to get into and I would like to go there and most of my friends want me to go there, but I think it's too hard for the math major. SD is more simple and there's opportunities for you to not do so good and classes and still be in good shape. The reason why I like SD is because of the whole small college thing they have going on. I was accepted to Revelle and I like their undergrad curriculum that they have. Can anyone out there help me?

There are more threads than I can count on this...Have a look around. If you haven't done so, visit both campuses. After visiting UCLA I can't imagine not going there. Also, in my opinion UCLA's strengths are more balanced. UCSD seems to be strong only in the sciences. So if you ever decide to switch out of math, that's something I would consider.

If you choose SD over LA because you think SD will be "easier" then you are greatly mistaken. I would venture to guess that they are both relatively the same in difficulty. if you really like the small college system that SD has, then it may be a good school for you, but other factors such as the general environment of each college should also be considered.

one of the drawbacks of SD is it is limited as far as the "college experience" is concerned (sports, campus buzz, pride, etc.) It is often refered to as an academic campus, where LA is, in my opinion, the best of both worlds. Have you visited?

You will have just as hard a time at UCLA and UCSD. You won't "slip by" by doing badly at UCSD.

Your best bet would be to visit the campuses. Also, don't like a school because it's tough to get into. The Air Force Academy is extremely difficult to get into, but the experience isn't the most pleasant. In the end, it's not about prestige, but about how much you will enjoy school. Check out UCSD if you haven't yet.
