UCLA Philosophy Pre-reqs

Hey friends! I am a first year community college student aspiring to study philosophy at UCLA. Unfortunately my school only offers 1 of the 4 pre-req classes listed on assist. So my question is: Are my chances of getting accepted as a philosophy major totally shot because of this? I'm a solid applicant otherwise (GPA, EC's, etc.), I'm just worried not having pre-req's will make me less competitive of an applicant. Any insight to this is greatly appreciated.

I should also add that the nearest CC to offer any other pre-req's is 40-50 minutes away, so it's not feasible for me to take these classes elsewhere.

No, you shouldn’t worry, they won’t expect you to complete prerequisite classes not offered at your CC. In fact I was accepted as a phil major and only completed 2 of the 4 prerequisites despite all 4 being offered at my CC.

No, you’ll be fine. UCLA won’t penalize you since you can only complete one pre-req class at your community college.

But you should be aware that if you get accepted to UCLA and decide to go, you’ll have to complete those pre-reqs over there and it may take a little longer to graduate. It’s not too serious a problem in my opinion, but yeah. One way or another, you’ll complete those pre-reqs lol

Sweet! thanks for the input
