What would you say the minimum gpa a person would require to have a reasonable odds of being admitted as a poli sci major?

3.8

10 char

Seconded.

Their average GPA accepted for Poli Sci has been on a steady climb upward in recent years, from 3.65 to 3.75 to 3.79. I think 3.80-1 is possible for this year. Remember though that having qualities like all prereqs done might make you competitive enough if you are just below the 3.8ish threshold

Its actually quite the opposite, you need all the Pre Reqs done to even be considered competitive at all…

I emailed the admissions people about that. They totally admit people without all the prereqs completed, they just have better overall stats. I think they drag up the average.

I have above a 3.83 and all my prereqs completed, and I’m still worried.

Anyone else here trying for UCLA poli sci?

@mmsiphone: from what I heard from a UCLA admissions officer directly you need a minimum number of the pre reqs at least to even be considered(I think 4). Again we’ve got contradicting statements, guess we will just see once decisions start rolling around

Thankfully I changed my major to philosophy so I’d have enough pre reqs :/

im also a poli sci major. i applied to ucla with a 3.84 gpa and 3 W’s and im kinda worried…i completed all pre reqs but one mainly cause they didnt offer it at my school…i tried taking it at another community college in my area but they didnt offer financial aid

Does anyone know if major GPA is considered in the admissions process? mine is fairly high (3.93) so I hope they do!
