A friend of mine, or rather my roomate, received an email from a UCLA scholarship because of his ECs. Yet he has not received any admission decision from UCLA.

And on the bottom of the email, it goes,

"This is an announcement of the UCLA Alumni Scholarship opportunities and is not a notification of admission. Admission decisions will be sent directly from the UCLA Admissions Office. The UCLA Alumni Association maintains its own schedule and assumes no responsibility for the timing, policies or decisions of UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools."

Reading is fundamental OP…
“This is an announcement of the UCLA Alumni Scholarship opportunities and is NOT A NOTIFICATION OF ADMISSION. Admission decisions will be sent directly from the UCLA Admissions Office. The UCLA Alumni Association maintains its own schedule and assumes no responsibility for the timing, policies or decisions of UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools.”

Have the subsequent posters read the paragraph?

Maintains their own schedule; in other words they don’t care about the time line set forth by the admissions office to release decisions (officially). Presumably UCLA finishes processing applications some days before their official release date, and beforehand distributes decisions/rejections to concerned departments (financial aid, scholarship committees, alumni associations, etc.) so that they can begin working on their ends.

Your friend is in!

Disclaimer: Pure speculation at its finest!

Congratulations on your recently obtained enviable status and position; I, on the other hand, will continue to prepare myself for certain rejection and subsequent appeal!

Ella - Our appeal thread this year will be epic! UCLA won’t know what hit them.

@Pino - Just my expression of jealousy.
