Does getting the regents letter pretty much mean you got in? Is it too early to "pop the champagne"? lol

i already popped the champagne after getting the invite. lol

Non-alcoholic champagne, I presume?

apple cider that has a champagne bottle.

So if you didn't get the invitation today, does that mean that you didn't qualify for merit aid at all? I'm confused...I hope not, because I was depending on merit aid.

You have other opportunities for merit aid, I'm sure, and I think the Regents invite is still coming out, as some people got their's on different days.

I heard somewhere that they only consider the two essays and recs? idk.

i was actually told this when i went to the regents scholar banquet last year, but i mean if you just use common sense it's obvious that not everyone who received a regents invite is on the same level. obviously some people are stronger than others, and while they're all above a certain cut-off point (the 1.5% top applicants...or so they say) that doesn't mean they're all the same. they don't just base it on the essays and the recs. they have to re-evaluate your entire application to see if you're the type of student to whom they want to be awarding UCLA's most prestigious reward.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear.

So they're still coming out? Anybody know when the flow stops? ;)

I'm confused. On the regents website that madamebovary posted it says " Letters of invitation are mailed to students during the first week of February." but you guys are getting them earlier than that? Is this not accurate..?

well the due date is feb 16, so i mean it would be very rushed if you got the invitation on the first week of feb- IMO.

yeah and only a handful of kids get them. If you dont have a 3.9 AND have a sat about 2200/2250 then dont expect one because only the cream of the crop of applicants are getting the regents offer

I just got a letter from UCLA about scholarships but it didn't mention me being selected or the Regents scholarship. The filer's name is Regents of the University of California UCLA Student Acct... I took a UCLA course over the summer, could this be related to it or is the Regents scholarship?

umm...the letter only invites you to apply for the scholarship. it by no means guarantees that you will be selected for it.

hey guys... i've tried to type in the application link from the letter about 10 times, but it says something about a secured channel.

Can someone give me or pm me the link? Or in general help me out?

it's what you have, but HTTPS. gotta get the S in there

ohhh! thanks!

I believe this misconception has been addressed many times, but I will say it once again..

IF YOU RECEIVE AN INVITATION TO APPLY, THAT DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMISSION.

i was expecting some nasty essays for this application, but the essays are surprisingly short and to the point. props to UCLA!

indeed! hello jonathan
