Welcome in my world everyone !
EVERY SINGLE PERSON told me I hadgood chances to get into UCLA. And yesterday night, I checked and got rejected… People with waaaay lower scores than me got in and not me !
Even more, it was my first answer, and almost all of my other choices are Ivy Leagues…
What should I think now ?!..

Sour grapes much?

For people with 2100+ gpa, it was only a 5% difference in admissions rate between OOS and IS.

Anyways, I agree Hominid’s statement is a bit off. UCLA has historically cared less about ECs than Berkeley. It’s because Berkeley cares about ECs so much that we even share similar student grade and GPA demographics! Otherwise, they’d be a notch higher.

I know for a fact our admissions officers are drooling for any individuals with 2400 SAT if not for the fact that the likeliness they’ll come to our school is slim.

jackdaniels, many highly qualified in state students were rejected this year, so " you don’t even have to be decent to get in" is most definitely not true. This year, I think just in general admissions have been down. And if you’ve already gotten into 2 schools you prefer over UCLA, don’t complain. There are a lot of people who didn’t get into LA or other schools yet, but are very strong applicants.

“OMG…if UCLA wasn’t even your top choice and you already got accepted to 2 schools you would choose over UCLA, why the hell are you complaining?”

THANK YOU. ‘boo hoo wahh ucla rejected me even though i wouldn’t have gone anywayzz!!bajkamajka!’ cry me a river, build me a bridge, then get the f**k over it. /thread.

p.s. i hope i don’t see u at usc, either, cause you’re hella annoying in every school’s threads.

Founded the school engineering FIRST robotics team (all 4 yrs) and National Economics Challenge team (2 yrs) - both went to state competition finals in first year of existence w/o any financial support from school (we placed over 40 teams for robotics, and 100 teams for econ). Also leader of the business club (4 yrs, was the only qualifier from school for state conference), as well as science competitions. Co-founded a music organization that performs for underprivileged communities, and writer at professional online technology publication that reaches tens of thousands of readers. There’s more, but that’s the main gist.

jack_daniels,

Your stats are not exceptional for this school. If you are applying towards a science/engineering major your SAT II scores are very sub-par. The vast majority of people I know here have higher stats than you.

Also, there are thousands of IN-STATE students who got rejected this year that were much better candidates than you.

That being said, I wish you the best of luck in your search for a college, just don’t be mad at UCLA since you in fact didn’t get cheated.

Yeah, your stats are low

yea it really sucks when everyone tells you you’ll get into ucla for sure, and then you just get rejected. is anyone else appealing?

What were your stats?

Don’t be. I’m a graduating senior at UCLA. People work wayyyy to hard here. Enjoy your life. I’m in college and finals week is next week. In Powell library as we speak trying to distract myself from hellish amounts of studying to beat the person next to me and learn the name of a stupid protein complex in order to get the A- that my neighbor won’t get.

Steer clear. Go to an easier school.

lmao that’s funny coming from someone who *****ed on the washu site forever after getting a rejection from them and got everyone upset in the USC forum for telling us not to complain. we all agreed you were being rude to everyone

i am NOT saying i’m smart or overqualified or anything, all i’m saying is that i thought i had the stats to get in and i didn’t and thus i was surprised. there’s no need to be rude or hope someone “doesn’t get in” somewhere. and from the ranges online it seems easy to get in when you’re in-state in comparison to everyone else. there’s really no need to be bitter.

oh i know my SAT IIs suck haha i’m not a math person at all and no i’m majoring in polsci

Jackdaniels, you are probably just as qualified (or more) as the others that were admitted.
Think of it as a crapshoot. The person reviewing your file may have read yours at the end of the day, may have had a bad day, idk, could be anything. I’m sure you will end up at the school you need to be. Good luck!

Just like raffles said, they can’t take everyone who’s qualified. And perhaps UCLA could tell from your app that you weren’t particularly interested in attending their school?

It’s a bit unkind to reply on @JackDaniels’s thread to put him down, despite how honest your replies may be… He (or she?) did title the thread “help,” not “what’s wrong with me?”

what? i have never posted on the wash u forum…i guess u have me confused with someone else? ■■■■■. & i didn’t ‘get everyone upset in the usc forum’, it was just u & 2 other paranoid freaks who wouldn’t take my good advice to not spend all of your time worthlessly speculating, which took up about 10 pages. so, good one.

I lost all sympathy for JackDaniels when he began putting other prospective students down. He has also been badmouthing UCLA on other boards.

It is my only wish that he discontinues posting on the UCLA subforum. The admissions officers have made their decisions and it makes no sense to waste words on a school he clearly never had intention of attending.

Don’t take it personally, Jack. UCLA screwed you before you screwed over it. Cat-and-mouse game? Right? I wish you all the best for your “serious” applications.

isn’t it obvious that some people with lower stats needs to be accepted to help out the curve in science classes

livelovecheer
thank you for that. and i’m sorry guys if i was putting anyone down. i was wrong there it just hurts to get your first rejection no matter where it is gone. UCLA is a fantastic school and congratulations to all that gone in and thanks to the rest of you for your kind words.

and for those of you with those not so nice words, well hey there’s nothing worth my time to say.

i’m once again sorry if anyone thinks i’m putting admitted students down, i was frustrated and in the wrong there.

^this is just a pride issue. wait till you try grad school applications. some people are happy with getting into just one school.

you may think you have the stats, but some people don’t. that’s just a fact of life; you aren’t entitled to everything, and so you have to roll with what you get.

Ok…I don’t know the numbers, so maybe you have a point in that it’s easier for in-state students to get in. Saying that you don’t even have to be decent is a bit overboard.
