UCLA STEM email

Has anyone else received an email from UCLA about a STEM open house invite? I'm hoping this might be a sign of possible acceptance (although they say it does not mean you have been accepted) but I'm being optimistic ;) I'm currently apart of STEM at my CC

I’m not sure, but from reading older threads, it seems that receiving an “open house” invitation is a good sign.

I has to be a good sign. I mean, it may only mean our grades are strong or we’ve taken upper division classes. . . it does not mean we are a shoe ins, that’s for sure. Haha. I didn’t technically apply under a STEM major so I know they aren’t sending out the emails based on majors. That’s why I say it must have gone out to people that have taken many math/science courses or upper division math and/or science courses.

I’ve been getting non-stop STEM emails from UCLA and I am not even a science or math major nor do I have a track record of taking math and science courses. I am actually a psychology major. So I don’t really know what to make of it lol

Alevy123, isn’t psychology technically a science?

Sumbum, you may be on to something. One of the majors I applied under was Psychology. I also read on another thread here that a chemistry major did not get the invite. Maybe it is based on major AND a gpa cut off.

I just got a call from UCLA and they said they wanted me to come to the open house thingy… hmm but i think it might be just because I go to smc which is really close to UCLA lol

Point taken. So, if I am getting these emails to the STEM open house, is it indicative of a possible acceptance?

I was thinking it might be a mass email but you have to RSVP and space is “limited”. Though, I did notice the program seems to be focused towards the “underrepresented” students so…IDK, but it sounds like a good sign to me :)

I have not yet received anything from UCLA till today…

I got two emails from them regarding this open house. One on Feb 22, and one on Feb 25. I asked my friend (who also applied to ucla) if he got one and he told me he didn’t get an email on any of those days.

I’m probably gonna go just to check it out, but I don’t want to get my hopes up for nothing.

Edit: We’re both computer science majors
