Has anyone not received a supplement from either UCLA or UCB and got in? It seems like the people repyling got the form and got in. I’m a little worried because I didn’t get one from either.

I never received a supplement from either, and I got into both…

I received one from UCLA but not from UCB…
My stats:
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)
ACT: 28 … equivalent to a 1970 on the SAT (most likely the reason I’m in the borderline pool)
EC’s: Really good. If you want to know what EC’s, ask me.

fabuls:

there are no exact stats on the % of Augmented Review who get in. However, from my informal polling of posts from past years on this subject seems to coalesce around 40%-50%.

Most admitted students do not receive the Supplemental Questionnaire (Augmeted Review). UCLA and Berkeley are pretty similar in what they are trying to accomplish with AR, and the explanation of it, including how many are AR’d was in a powerpoint on this topic on the Berkeley admissions website a couple of days ago, which I read quickly, but I cannot locate it any longer.

link can be found on the web page at http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/counselor.asp

As an aside, to help in finding info that you know where you found it, using the “site” keyword in google does wonders. To find this link I used (without the quotes) “admission Supplemental Questionnaire site:berkeley.edu”

@fabuls, only a tiny percentage of students receive the supplemental questionnaire. Not receiving it just means you are not a borderline case.

Do we know if UCLA/UCB are still handing out these supplements?

I didn’t get a supplement, but I was just wondering if it was just two essays. Did it include mid-year grades or was it just two essays? Just wonderin’

I got one from UCLA and UCI, but I am now thinking that I only got it because I am disabeld. I am legally blind and talked about how I have had to overcome so many barriers. My stats are pretty low 1750 SAT and 3.7 UC GPA But i really do have an inspiring life story, I was also in the San Bruno Gas Pipe explosion.
Oh and I went to UCLA’s nylf on medicine.
Do you think I really have a shot or are they just sending me this because they have to?

@Bambi11

You actually have a good shot bro just like the rest of us. People who received the supplements went through some serious consideration to see if they even want the student.Since you received one, you should work hard on completing the essays because these will basically MAKE OR BREAK your application.

Also,I didn’t know UCI also gave out supplements. I thought it was only UCLA and UCB.

yeah aparently UCSD does it too…

So, does it mean anything if we did not get this? I originally thought I did not have borderline stats (4.5 UC GPA, 2270 SAT, 740/750/790 SAT Subject Tests) but after seeing that someone here got it with a 2290 SAT, I’m not sure what to think. Is anyone here ELC who got this letter?

My friend received the supplements from UCSD and UCLA (he was in ELC).

I received the supplement from UCLA and UCI.
The questions were the same for both. My senior year grades were all A’s except for a B in AP calculus. Taking 3 AP’s total senior year.
I answered both prompts and submitted the same answers to both supplements and was admitted to both. Take them seriously they really can help you get in.
My stats were not ucla material but I got in !!
UC GPA 3.8
SAT 1580
ACT 22
Received the supplement from LA and SD! Didn’t see SD one until too late (all my emails from them had been in my spam ) though so I couldn’t do it and I got waitlisted. I saw the LA one on time, worked hard on it, and found out a few hours ago that I was accepted! Senior year grades for my first semester were all A’s with the exception of a B in AP Gov. I’d def say that these supplements are worth the time, effort, and stress! Apply even if you don’t think you’ll get in. Good luck all!!!
GPA 3.97 *Excluding senior year grades
SAT: 1800 (old) & 1270 (new)
