UCLA TAP Acceptance Statistics

@levonid
your post really gives me hope lol. I have a 3.33 TAP gpa and Im applying for philosophy.
91.6% acceptance rate for humanities. But you got to wonder what happened to the other 8.4%…

i personally think the reason why some people get rejected even with tap is because of pre reqs and a low gpa. most people think “oh even though i have a impacted major i am in tap so i dont need a gpa that is too high” but i think that’s where they get screwed over…

I have TAP I have no secondary major, I am applying for psych with a 3.63 having completed all pre-reqs. I am pretty confident…hope im not setting myself up.

With a 3.63, TAP, and all prereqs completed you’re right at the cusp for Psychology.
Very decent chance of getting in, but then again the benefit of TAP is in your ability to choose an alternate major.

I understand that, however I am solely interested in Psychology, and was not able to select cognitive science or some related field as second choice. If I were to not get in under psych I would rather attend a different school, after all it is only undergrad and I am planning on being in school for a long, long, long time.

Still no word from UCLA, but I did find some interesting info on Statfinder. Apparently UCLA’s overall acceptance rate for CCC transfers with 3.8-4.0 GPAs was 63% in 2009. The same year, the acceptance rate for all TAPed CCC students was 81%–and at least some of those would have been below 3.8.

So there’s a clear advantage to TAP, I think. I wouldn’t be surprised if the TAP acceptance rate for 3.8+ was 90% or better based on those two stats.

Thanks for your efforts man - I’m definitely interested to know what the actual GPA distribution is for TAP acceptances. I consider myself to be a relatively border-line TAP certified applicant, having only a 3.5-6 GPA. Fortunately, my major is not impacted (applied math/science or econ/math as alt.).

If they ever do end up responding to you in a reasonable period of time, perhaps you can also find out how impactedness affects acceptance rates for TAP certified students.
