Hi, um, I have a final from 11:30 to 2:30 this Friday, June 10.. which is apparently graduation day as well. How crazy do you think traffic would be? Do you think I would make it in time for my 5:00pm flight if I leave right away after 2:30 by taking the FlyAway?

Yeah, you should be fine. Let’s say you get the 3pm FlyAway. When there’s traffic, it takes up to an hour to get to the airport. That’s 4pm and leaves you ~45 minutes to check bags and get through security. That’s almost always enough time, even at LAX.

But even when including the graduation factor? Wouldn’t traffic be worst than usual? Sorry, I’m just being paranoid.

Graduation traffic can be substantial, especially in the morning. I think you should, however, be fine by taking the 2:30PM FlyAway. Depending on what terminal you go through, 45 minutes may or may not be sufficient, and the TSA advises 90-120 minutes for domestic flights anyway.

Oh… okay, thank you! I’m flying on American Airlines and they ran out of the 7:00 tickets. Do you think I would make it into that terminal in time? Is it far compared to the other terminals?

American Airlines is in the middle of the airport, just past the international terminal. It takes 5-10 minutes extra to get there from Terminal 1 (Southwest).
