Does anyone know how to get to Little Tokyo by bus? Thanks

From Downtown to Little Tokyo

http://www.ladottransit.com/dash/
Take A if you go there weekday
Take DD if weekend

Or you can take commuter express to downtown if the schedule fits yours. Then take Dash...

Actually you can get more in Sawtelle or Matsuwa in Santa Monica then in Little Tokyo...

shirley, where exactly is Matsuwa? I tried googling but the closest thing I found was Mitsuwa Marketplace..

She probably means Mitsuwa then...typo =]

Mitsuwa is awesome, by the way/

All right. I was trying to type Mitsuwa but my mind was hijacked by a song called Matsuwa.

there's a Mitsuwa Marketplace @ Little Tokyo; anything special about the one in Santa Monica? hehe

omg go buy me seaweed when you go there :(

if you pay me :)

The one in Santa Monica is much smaller than the Little Tokyo store, so much smaller! You'll be disappointed. Anyway, it isn't worth drive all the way from the westside to downtown LA for Mitsuwa...

My relatives say that downtown LA is basically a shadow of what it used to be in terms of asian shops. It's all about Monterey Park now. Make some friends that have cars and tag along with them when they go. Thats what I do.

What's the difference between Mitsuwa and Nijiya over in Sawtelle?

WHAT? I've lived in Monterey Park all my life, and it's boring in terms of shopping. It's all about the food there, though.

Yea I was referring to food in my post.
My summer roommate drove there from westwood just to eat dinner cause he was too lazy to cook that night =/

I would have to agree . People say that the San Gabriel Valley is the area to be, but I think it's only good for Asian food (predominantly Chinese).

There's not many "good" places to hang out besides the "usual". The only points of interests are the places to dine (most serve authentic Asian food). If anyone is interested, I can recommend places in the area.

A lot of SGV teens go to Westfield Shopping mall for shopping/hanging out, so you probably tell how special the place is for the younger crowd. There's also some places for 'K', but I don't think EVERYONE is interested in that.

I think you mean Chinatown. Yes, most of Chinatown business has moved to MPK, but it still isn't a big deal. Do visit Chinatown on a Saturday if you haven't. They still have the street market which is smaller than it used to be, but there are many cheap and random products. You can't get that experience in MPK, that I can tell you.

Probably prices I guess? We have one Nijiya in San Francisco, but the stuff there was expensive.

Basically, what you want to do is drive down Garvey from Atlantic to New and hit places with ratings of B or more. More hits than misses. I'm craving Little Fat Sheep (Garvey and Atlantic) right now. <3

Pshh. It's all about Garden Cafe.
