UCLA Transfer Appeals 2019

okay im confused. I called admission to ask about timeframe specifics and the woman said they’re going through the waitlist first and appeals wont be until July!!! I know thats conflicting with what other people heard but i’m stressed out about how late we are all finding out. She also mentioned there would be almost no housing left as its after housing deadlines. I know the appeals are rare to even go through for UCLA but dang if it does its going to be really hard to find a place to live.

@imstressin Until July?! That’s gonna be a while. When is housing deadline normally?

@HarleyTheQuinn I don’t know but she told me it would be too late…

Transfers are not guaranteed housing if they are accepted from appeal. There is no deadline because there is no promise in the first place.

@HeyItsNick I get that but I was wondering if there was an actual deadline for housing because accepted students are already getting their dorm buildings.

Can any of you answer a quick question I have about the nature of UCLA’s appeal? I know that UCSD’s appeal process only allows a person to attend the school, but not in their major. For example, a person who appealed to UCSD as a mathematics major would be accepted into the school, but would not be able to get the degree in mathematics (or any other degree) until they are accepted into their major. For impacted degrees in STEM, getting accepted into that major can take years and may never happen.
Is this the same case for UCLA? Does the appeal process just let students into the school, but not into their major?

I was accepted to UCLA this year. Our housing deadline was June 1st and our housing decisions have already come out 2 days ago. It’s competitive (I got assigned the housing that was way below my top choices) so I speculate it would be difficult to even get a housing for students accepted off of appeals. I got assigned to a triple dorm with shared bath so I think off-campus is even better than the guaranteed housings.

Also, I got rejected from Berkeley and quite frankly I was really upset that I had to be attending UCLA. So I submitted my appeal to Berkeley and I think the results come out mid-June. If people that SIR’d to UCLA but appealed to Berkeley get off of the appeal, I think that’ll open up some spots for those appealing to UCLA because their results come out later than Berkeley(?)

@hafnium I’m not sure about that. I could ask the director of the program I’m in about it.

@milktea1121 Ooh I see. I wanted to dorm to get the whole living off-campus experience, but I live 30 min away from the school. If I get in I’ll be ok driving there :smiley:

@HarleyTheQuinn Lucky you live nearby! I heard the one I was assigned to was not good haha

Hey guys, I began lurking here a little bit ago and just wanted to contribute. On June 8th I got my appeal decision and was admitted on appeal.

This is the letter that is now on my UCLA decision site when I log in. I have obviously omitted my name. Just wanted to say that the appeals decisions are going out.

@purveyorofmeat congratulations!

Someone from my cc got in with an appeal on saturday!

@purveyorofmeat congrats!! Did you get an email? Also, can you tell us little about what you wrote on appeal? :slight_smile:

@baebi99 Yes, I did get an e-mail talking about financial aid but not an official “Oh hey you got in on appeal” e-mail.

My situation was a bit unusual, I had attended CC when I was fresh out of high school and did horribly and have now gone back later and gotten a 4.0 at my new CCC. Honestly, my appeal was a long shot because there was no new information that I brought to the table, I mainly asked them to look at my record and reconsider.

@purveyorofmeat Omg that’s amazing! Congrats! It seems like they’re reviewing some appeals while taking students off the waitlist. Hopefully, some of us will hear something by the end of this week.

Any COMM major here?

@xxxxxmxla here!

Yep!, appealed for a comm major. Glad to see that the admissions are actively processing appeals and sending out decisions.
