UCLA Transfer Appeals 2019

@Tbgunn30 But this major is highly selective and the yield rate is very high(75% last year) so they may not have many spots for waitlist or appeal…at least I have not yet seen any success case in this major.

@ltyelisabeth @Tbgunn30 Nice to see you here. Yes, definitely hard to get in?

@ityelisabeth @xxxxxmxla I had a 3.76 when I submitted… well 3.7 now after spring semester at cc just recently. I did every prerequisite required and tons of extracurriculars pertaining to my major.
I made the case in my appeal that they need to look at my record again. But for now, I’m sir’d to UCSB and just waiting… hopefully by the end of the week to get a response.

@Tbgunn30 I have a 3.98 GPA(for two years) and many extracurricular activities too. But I’m an out-of-state international student…sir’d to UCB…

Seems like they’re taking forever, to look at waitlists and appeals. However I Sired to a different uc which fits in better to what I want to do in the future, while my attendance for ucla will solely be for its name which sucks. So at this point I do believe everything happens for a reason.

I have 3.96 with many ECs. International CCC students

The student next to me just got off the waitlist when I was studying in the library. :frowning:

I am really late to this post, but I’m also waiting for an appeal as Gender Studies major.
It seems some of you all have gotten responses… anyone know anyone that appealed the same major as me? Just curious to know where I stand and what to expect, so I can continue working hard towards my goals

@gelisis me! I applied as a gender studies major bc I was gonna change my major to cog science. What is your stat?

I’m a little embarrassed to say, compared to those that have been commenting who have better stats. I had a lot of hardships in CC that brought down my GPA heavily because I was a STEM major while homeless for a year. About 30 units are neutralizing my GPA lower than it would be, if I had changed my major or taken time from school. But I had to use FA to survive though and my goals to pursue Biology were crushed in result. I found Gender studies to be an uplifting and positive major that has influenced my view of society and the negative subjectivity of gender norms.

My stats are:
with non-stem pre-reqs: ~3.17
ECs: MESA and CCCP Scholar
VP for Puente and head counselor for underserved community program for youth in different programs that supports BLM, grievances(ex. recently lost a family member), and health. Recent scholarship awarded by my shelter for academic perseverance.

I heard stories about UCLA taking into consideration life circumstances more so than other UCs. I was hoping that they would see my story and perseverance to continue higher education as a positive factor that motivated me to never give up on my dream of being the first in my family to go to college. I was saddened that my application was denied, but I understand that GPA plays a heavy factor into a school that is both academically competitive and an honorable institution. Hopefully we hear good news  , must stay positive and never give up!

@gelisis True! Seems like you been thru a lot and I’m sure your hardships made you into a even better person and UCLA will def gonna see that too! I mainly just talked about what I improved and the ec I did cuz they said write new and compelling story. so I didn’t write about any obstacles I been thru at all and yea I kinda regret that atm

Well it’s a part of the journey, you should include it next time of truly had an effect on your academics either positive or negative, but in the end you know your goals and dreams

Has anyone been rejected? or have they only rolled out acceptances?

@Pepsi1022 I think they only rolled out acceptances and will send out rejection around July 1st.

@xxxxxmxla I’m getting a false sense of hope if they only roll out acceptances, and then release rejections afterward around July 1st.

OH MY GOOOD. How did i not realize there would be a flock of yall waiting on appeals hahaha. Im waiting too! I was like dayum cause its the 13th now and was all alone… I appealed for european history! I had everything and a 3.4 ish gpa. Not saying i should have gotten in but this appeal wait is kinda intriguing me LOL. Appealing to less popular majors is easier id imagine…

@xxxxxmxla I don’t think so because some people in last year’s thread got their appeal rejected around June

It seems like most heard back on Fridays throughout the month, based on the past threads. So some of us might hear back today or next week  Don’t know for sure. I’m wondering if people got in during July but the 2018 thread died off early that month

@HarleyTheQuinn When they always release the news? like 3 pm?

@xxxxxmxla No idea. Some people heard back in the morning or in the afternoon
