Anyone know when we should hear back? and how does the appeal process work?
When you sign into the ucla admission portal does anyone else’s portal not have the rejection letter anymore ?
@UniCoIn Yes, it is replaced with another letter saying they are reconsidering the admission decision.
@HeyItsNick I’m planning on sending my appeal on May 15th, how about you?
@GoodAfternoonSir I sent mine in a few days ago!
I submitted mine in early because idk I thought the earlier the better?
@UniColn Maybe you’ll get your decision faster! Let me know what happens!
@UniCoIn I called the Admissions office and they said it doesn’t matter when you submit, as long as it’s before the deadline because they don’t even open the Appeals until after June 1st since that’s commitment day for transfer students. But also depending on your major and how many spots are filled up, if they are completely full, they don’t even consider looking at the appeals because there’s no room.
@pbbunny97 Yield Rate for Bus-Econ is 52% according to last year. Assuming the percentage rate is similar this year, does this mean my chances for appeal are higher than normal for this major?
@GoodAfternoonSir What is the yield rate?
@pbbunny97 Yield in college admissions is the percent of students who choose to enroll in a particular college or university after having been offered admission. For my major, the percentage of transfers last year who SIR’d to UCLA Bus-Econ major was 52%. This means that assuming the percentage of transfers who accept to go to UCLA is similar, I feel like I’d have a better chance compared to other majors where the Yield rate is higher.
@GoodAfternoonSir … But they might take into account their yield for different majors based on the past when deciding how many students to accept (i.e. planning for only 1/2 of students admitted to that major to attend based on last year’s yield).
Also, on a kind of unrelated note, a UCLA rep told me that they had too many students enroll last year so they cut down the number of students they accepted this year. Transfers, I think but it could have been freshmen too.
@GoodAfternoonSir what is the yield rate for Comparative literature where can I find this info?
@pbbunny97 I submitted my uc apps ten minutes before it was due and I was the last wave to find out about decisions at almost all the ucs I applied too, I also was overthinking the ucla appeal I felt the sooner I needed to submit the app it went tend to be the first batch they read idk. Maybe just overthinking it
I finished my appeal a few days ago but revised it last night. I’m thinking of giving it to a counselor or my mentor to see how it look.
Submitting it today!
After submitting the appeal it says we can continue to edit until midnight. Is that for today or does the appeal decision need to be in by 5pm like the site says?
Submitted mine a few days ago anyone know when ucla decisions come out?
And you can update till midnight the day you submitted it.
I think the time range for hearing back is from the mid-June to the mid-July, the rare cases may be in late May and late July.
