I have been trying to decide between UCLA and Boston College. At BC, I’ve been accepted into CSOM and at UCLA, I’d pursue the biz-econ route. I’ve heard great things about both. I would also being paying out of state tuition for both schools and have received little to no aid. Living in California seems very appealing, but I would also not have a problem living on the east coast. If anyone has any insights or thoughts to help me out it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
You would not be paying OOS tuition to both schools because BC is private and does not have OOS tuition.
Both are fine choices - which is the more comfortable and / or cheaper choice for you?
Also, BC is religious - are you?
BC would cost you about $10K per year more. For that extra cost, you’ll be getting smaller class sizes overall and virtually no large lecture halls on the scale of UCLA. Carroll School of Management is well respected. Of the two, BC is more focused on undergraduate teaching and less on graduate research in general…
To me the key question to ask is where you’d like to live after college. BC CSOM grads go on to the big financial centers of the Northeast - especially NYC and Boston - where BC has an extensive alumni network. UCLA is obviously Left Coast.
Both are fine schools and you can’t go wrong with either choice.
