I really don't know where to go. I was accepted as a neuroscience major at both UCLA and UCSD, with my major undeclared at UCSB (honors program). I've visited all except UCSB, anyone want to give some advice or is in a similar situation?

Even if you resolve UCLA, I don’t see any way to decide between UCSB and UCSB.

haha UCSD*

It really depends on what you want to do with your neuroscience major. I personally would not recommend UCLA or even UCSD to an extent if you want to do pre-med.

I don’t think honors programs mean anything. More important are departmental honors you’ll eventually apply to and if you get in those you’ll be working closely with faculty.

the neuroscience department at UCLA is very prestigious. search up the professor Arnold Schiebel…a lot of students swear hes the best part of their college experience. the department also makes sure each student has the opportunity to do research in neuroscience. with that said, the classes are difficult, but if its something you’re passionate about, you’ll put in the work

UCSD is just hard as UCLA in the sciences. some people say its even harder since there’s a lot less to do there so people study all day.

UCSB…i’ve heard many times they have a good physics program. however, the party scene there is exactly as its reputation. the campus environment is perfect for partying and I bet it is VERY difficult to focus there. the students from my HS who went there either party every week or don’t go to the school anymore…indeed while many people go up for Halloween, i’ve heard its actually crazier during the school year.

to sum up, UCLA and UCSD are difficult schools, and UCSB will be difficult for a different reason. if you’re looking to party, UCSB has it. UCLA has a scene as well, but its not the focus of the school like UCSB. UCSD…the party scene is non existent since the city cracks down on it.

basically, go to the school who’s environment you like the best since academically, UCSD and UCLA aren’t that different. there’s obviously a lot more things to do outside at UCLA then UCSD, but some people like the more relaxed environment. if you wanted to party, I still wouldn’t go with UCSB since UCLA offers a better balance. Good luck!

I was rejected to UCLA, but I chose UCSD over UCSB honors. The main reason is that I just absolutely love UCSD.
