@WaitingforGodot4
I was guaranteed housing for 3 years along with all other freshman. Requested a classic triple and ended up with one. Overall a great experience. I dont feel hindered in anyway due to being off a waitlist.
@stressedoutEE
Not saying that at all! The essay can only help in my opinion.
@TheProdigalRoommate Thanks so much. Not sure how many if any they will take off the waitlist but with only 3 days to decide, I appreciate your help.
Hey guys, I didn’t update any information on the waitlist opt-in page as I wasn’t aware of it. Is there any other way I can send in information for them to add to my file?
@shivambathija
I think you can have your guidance counselor or you send them an updated transcript with your senior grades and add any awards, internships or jobs you may be doing over the summer.
Hey!! Does anyone think that waitlist decisions might start coming out this weekend before 1st May? Getting anxious lol
My D is OOS and was wait listed by UCLA, NYU and Boston College. Accepted at UCSD, UCSB, Santa Clara and St Andrews in Scotland. We’ve visited all these schools except Santa Clara. UCLA is her first choice, but we realize it’s a long shot. Has anyone visited Santa Clara? I feel that we haven’t given it a fair chance in the selection process. Right now my D is trying to decide between UCSD (John Muir college) and St Andrews. Any advice / comments welcome?
@GoingWest I visited Santa Clara! I live close to the area. I really liked it there… The campus itself is really beautiful (commonly compared to Stanford), and it comes with many benefits of a private school (smaller classes, professors pay more attention to you, etc.). Because of it’s proximity to the silicon valley, many tech companies do hire from there. They really emphasize kindness and service, which I admire. The social scene is also fun and friendly.
As for the jesuit aspect, the only thing is that you are required to take three religion classes (most of these classes may not fall into your traditional schema of “religious”). Otherwise, it really has no affect on you if you do not want it to. Plenty of non religious students go to the school.
Personally, it’s too close to home haha
@jesslols1
Update: Actually may 1st is sir. sorry I misread… On their website it says they’ll notify freshman applicants with their final status by the end of June. Assuming they need to review the number of available stops they’ll send decisions after may 1st.
Hey, does anyone know whether UCLA is need-aware on their waitlists? I applied for financial aid to UCLA (even though I turned out not needing it as I got $0 from every other college) and I was wondering if it affects ur chance of getting off the waitlist?
can we send a letter of continued interest to ucla?
Oh, great this is not going to help us…
"The UC Regents delayed a vote on tuition increase to negotiate for more state funding according to an April 26, 2018 LA Times article. This could be bad news for waitlisted students because the exact same thing happened in May 2015 and the UC system held the waitlisted students hostage during the budget negotiation (this was confirmed during the counselor conference later that year); students were left in limbo until late into the summer (August in some cases).
Students who are waitlisted or appealing should expect longer wait than usual (some UCs already said they may not notify waitlisted students until July). I recommend moving forward full speed with your alternate plan; no one wins when the UCs use students as cannon fodder in a budget war."
@collegefind1234 I couldnt find that article anywhere. Did you mean to put the entire thing in quotes? Or are you just referencing the LA times article and commenting on it?
@stressedoutEE - I copied and pasted the text verbatim from ask Ms Sun blog. She’s a known UC college adviser
hey guys last year ucla admitted people off the waitlist on april 29 based on the 2017 forum
did anyone get anything?
So has nobody heard back yet?
Nothing yet here. S18 is on the waitlist for engineering.
any news?
I haven’t heard anyone getting a response yet. I’m guessing this year it is going to be delayed due to the budget problems, but I’m just praying it isn’t. Has anyone gotten a response yet ?
