@mikuru thank you that gives me hope. I’m gonna call back tomorrow and ask again and see why that lady told me that.
hey guys i have been following this thread for such a long time now…(since the waitlist options came out)
tbh i just wanted to share my frustration (check out the username)
but i rlly wanna know why the heck ucla is so late on this?!? i already kno sd, berk, and sb waitlist decisions came out so why the heck is la lagging ugh
kudos to everyone on this thread for suffering with me
we honestly all deserve an acceptance for this
its seriously so frustrating getting all anxious when you get an email notif, only to find out its not la LOL
@loluclawhy16 your username made me laugh HAHA I RELATE
To be honest, I have no idea why they’re taking so long either! I just want a solid decision :^(
This year is really funky, honestly…
@sushicult im starting to think too many ppl sir-ed in the actual first acceptance round so ucla is being a butt and leading us all on LOL AHHH. honestly worrying me af bc the housing apps are due soon
@loluclawhy16 I know, I wished they would let us know already…I thought there would be at least more space since they increased their class size and their yield rate wouldn’t fluctuate too much from the norm, but I guess not! I just find it odd how so few have gotten off the waitlist though!
I’m actually thinking is it possible that they’re waiting for Berkeley to get all the students they want first then they start the big waves, since people would choose Berkeley over UCLA if they got waitlisted by both?
Can someone please call them and ask what is really going on?
Why don’t you just call them? (Unless you’re international, then rip).
Also, even we asked them what’s going on, even some of the admissions officers I talked to didn’t know what was going on, since the officer on the phone isn’t with the officers who do admissions. They probably wouldn’t let us know anyways.
It’s the 17th of May. if NOTHING has come by now, then nothing will. UCs have never accepted of the waitlist this late. I think we should all forget about this and just be happy with what we have.
And I think more people would choose LA over Berkeley because of campus life and food and whatnot.
@i2400ezpz uh, I’ve known people who’ve been accepted as late as June…
@mikuru if Berkeley has released so many waves already, then, if what you guys say is true, UCLA would have started taking people off already. The fact that they have not means it’s highly unlikely we are going to get accepted. If people DO get admitted, it will only be a few people. And I am fairly certain nobody gets off the waitlist in June. Even UCLA said that will not happen. Just stop worrying about it and go enjoy life and your intended college.
Does UCLA actually notify people that they are off the waitlist? Have moved on to UCSD and excited about it – just wondering if there will ever be official confirmation.
@i2400ezpz Call them. They said not all waitlists were released. Also I would find it hard to believe that only one college (of the six) accepted people off waitlists from UCLA.
@CalBayArea2020 UCLA (and UC Berkeley, and probably all other UCs too) will email you once your waitlist/appeals decision is released.
Thank you @mikuru. I wonder why it’s taking so long? SIR day was May 1 – it just seems surprising to me that by this date they wouldn’t know whether they had a full class or not.
@i2400ezpz They definitely have before. Someone from my school got off in June literally last year, so it’s definitely possible. Our chances are slim, sure, because that’s the nature of a waitlist. Still, I’m not sure what you’re basing your assumptions off of besides your own and others’ speculation.
@CallMeHRV @i2400ezpz last year was a special case. The school was holding out until governor brown approved more funding for the school year. Many students were mad and felt they were being used as pawns.
The UC president said to the governor if he did not approve more money she could not make room for students from the waitlist, eventually governor brown gave her the money she wanted but this process went on until June. Which is why last year was a special case of waitlist people getting in until mid to late June. UCLA already said this year decisions will be confirmed by the end of May.
A friend of mine was admitted to the School of Theater, Film & Television off the waitlist this morning!
I just got off the phone with the admissions office. She said that the first wave went out about 2 weeks ago and that any acceptances after that will all be sporadic; meaning if people drop their SIR/Don’t meet deadlines. I’m kinda distraught rn. My counselors told me my waitlist essay was great and I just don’t know what to do now. I mean I SIR’d to UCI but I just don’t see myself fitting well at that school. I’ve like wanted to go to UCLA since I was 5. Most of my family members are alumni, (parents and grandparents 3 aunts, 3 uncles), and my brother and sister both go there. I’m just sad af.
