I mean it is possible that the people we’re calling don’t really know what’s going with the waitlist either since we are calling “General Inquiries” and not people who are directly involved with the waitlist process. Especially since we’ve been getting so many different answers.
I’m with you @nshepherd929 I’ve always wanted to go to UCLA. Both my parents and older siblings went there. As well as 2 aunts and uncles.
@nshepherd929 @Bcarb97
I as well!
Haha I can’t say I know exactly how you guys feel since I’ve only got a cousin who went to UCLA. And I actually have an uncle (who I’m closer to) who went to USC lol
I’d agree with @effyeahjen. I’ve heard like 5 different answers, and only students (I can’t remember if it was IS or OOS only) in the L&S College were accepted off waitlists so far…which makes me feel that’s unlikely it’s all the waitlisted students.
I got off the waitlist today. They sent an email that said “a decision has been made regarding your application to UCLA.” I’m OOS and a biology major in L&S. I actually declined the spot (I recently got off the waitlist at another school) so I hope it goes to one of you guys!
I feel like barely anyone will get off the WL because they had an overenrollment this year… not even enough dorms, according to my friend
Im so confused. Does UCLA send out an email saying you have not gotten in? OR do they let you suffer until June 1st when they tell everyone that did not get in. And has any history people on the waitlist gotten in yet??
@kaatherinee Every year they say something like that.,…shouldn’t be concerned…
It’s strange that we’ve heard so little this year. Even last year when not many people got off the waitlist, CC was buzzing about acceptances all month. Makes me think that either UCLA got a wayyyyy higher enrollment rate this year so no room was left for us or they’re messing with us and just releasing everything at the end of the month
Wait so have any IS freshmen heard anything yet? If so, was it for college of letters and science for any of you? This is getting to be a bit silly
@CallMeHRV No, heard of very few in-state (by that I mean one) for L&S. Mostly OOS.
They want $$$$
I think that UCLA does have an overenrollment problem this year. When I was at their accepted student reception, they said that they accepted about 17500 kids this year, which is even more than they usually do (~15000) because of the mandate to increase in state enrollment. Also, taking to a lot of kids, many people have been rejecting offers form other top school like UChicago, Northwestern, JHU, and even Columbia to come to UCLA. I think in previous years, UCLA expected these kids to go to the other top schools over UCLA. So I think a combination of both of these things caused the lack of waitlist seats this year. But don’t give up yet guys! Like other people have said, acceptences go all the way to June (I personally know someone who got off the waitlist last year in the first week of June).
Good luck!!!
Beginning to feel as though the stress and strife of all this waiting and worrying and praying and self-doubt will be fruitless
@Masr98 It may be, but it may also lead to something else coming to fruition (i.e. at the uni you’ve committed to already). There’s really no way to know for certain if you’d be better off at LA or not anyway, even if you think it’s probable. Head up!
@CallMeHRV I agree completely. The school I’m going to (UCSD) was a university I got off the waitlist for May 2 and it was and still is one of the best days I’ve had. This worry, however, has been going for way too long. Regardless of the outcome, it’s really hindering my ability to make concrete decisions and plans with friends and living arrangements and it’s all starting to get really inconvenient and dragged out.
I’ve been checking this thread since the beginning of the month, and barely decided to make an account to comment. I’m not going to lie, at first I was really optimistic about the UCLA waitlist. Literally everyone at my high school (SF Bay Area) has gotten off the waitlist they were on. Including schools ranging from long beach to UCB. Although I’m highly doubtful any good news will be recieved this week, I’m just going to keep it in God’s hands. This process has been stressing me out tho. Good luck to you all!
@Masr98 I’m on the same boat. I SIR’d to UCD, and my close friend got in off the waitlist. We’re in the process of becoming roommates, and we’re both really happy about it. But I keep thinking about one day getting an email from LA and have everything switch up. It’s just really inconvenient how everyone I know had gotten off their waitlist. Just my luck lol
hey guys! soo i’m actually graduating this week and its all super exciting and stuff but i was actually conflicted about graduating my cap with my school name on it because i was waitlisted. then i kinda thought of it…like how sad it is that i can’t be proud of my current school because of this stupid waitlist… likewise, i cant promise my roomies anything, im prolonging the housing app, it made me think WHY im so hooked on la. my best friends going there, i was born in la, been wanting to go since i was 8, great for med, my fav dance team is in la, close to my current home, blah blah
but also i heard SO many stories of kids getting rejected from their dream schools(not to say we’ll be rejected) but they turn out absolutely fine, sometimes even better than fine
i guess what im trying to say is believe whatever happens will be for the best! and it will! Ucla is amazing, and if we get in, thats freaking awesome. but it is def NOT worth the time stressing out about this. i can honestly say checking this thread everyday multiple times for updates only brings my mood down. im trying to stay optimistic but also realistic yknow
idk if theres an overenrollment or not but im happy to say ill be repping ucsd at my graduation at least for now. gluck everyone!
