I'm applying as a history major with a 3.4 UC GPA w/TAP but my alternate is women's studies. There is only 1 pre req required but my school and many others do not offer it. Will i be penalized because my school doesn't offer it?

nay
10 lalalal char

No I don’t think so. I am a womens studies major with my alt in religious studies. The class is only offered in UCLA’s summer program of which isn’t accessible to many students.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks natjan. I was reading the women’s studies department page and they said that if your community college doesn’t offer it then you can take it during the summer, like you mentioned. But i didn’t take it @ UCLA so i hope i won’t be ineligible. Did you take the course @ UCLA?

If anyone has any information on how UCLA looks at an applicant who hasn’t completed a pre requisite due to it not being offered, it will be appreciated This question is primarily referring to non impacted majors

la4ever09, it’s not an issue. 1 pre-req is reasonable, all pre-reqs missing isn’t.

@liek0806 woman’s studies only has one pre req so in this case it would be missing ALL.

I think that because the major is not impacted, there is more leeway in terms of finishing classes, especially if it isn’t offered at your CC. Whereas if your major was Psychology or Political Science missing even one pre req would hurt significantly.

i understand, but there is only 1 pre req required. So if the schools i attended do not offer it, wouldn’t not completing the only pre req look bad? btw i’m a TAP applicant with a 3.4 gpa and this pre req i’m referring to is regarding my alternate major-women’s studies.

You’re fine.
