So I hear that if you take classes at a community college, you can receive subject credit for the course without having the class count towards your unit max.

Does anyone know if this is true? I'm from a four year state university coming in with about 120 units--taking classes at a CC would definitely be a great option for me.

Or do the units count regardless ...?

you shouldn’t be taking anymore units because you already have units from a 4 year. its different if you come from a community college, because you can take as many units as you want. if you haven’t taken any upper division courses at your 4 year university then it might be okay to take the courses

any class that you take can be transferred to cover a prereq but you won’t get unit credit for it. its good for engineering/double majors.

70 semester or 105 quarter units can be transferred for the 180 units needed for a BA/BS and the unit cap is 216 units before the school kicks you out. That 216 unit cap is disregarded for south campus majors who require 216 just to graduate and for those who petition to stay just a little bit longer for a second degree.
