@greenhk what is your daughters gpa and act/sat scores?
@greenhk It looks like if you are a femaie or and URM accepted to Engineering you are eligible to apply to attend Bridge but based on stats they can also require you to attend. Your daughter’s stats may be very good but I’m sure there are a lot of femaie students or URMs accepted into engineering program with higher stats. Those majors draw kids with incredible stats. My daughter is a senior in an engineering program and it is a difficult courseload. I’d take all of the help that they offer if you can afford to do it. They seem to just be focusing on those two groups.
I was accepted for history. 3.3 UWGPA 32 ACT from Florida. Where do I find scholarship info? Has it been posted yet?
It looks like scholarship info will come later, maybe in acceptance letter.
Thank you so much for your replies. It makes more sense now - I’m guessing her SATs were borderline. I firmly believe that this program would be a great benefit to D. My question now is - is this a pass/fail program (is there a possibility of her not passing) or just by simply attending and completing the course she’s all set to go to UConn for biomedical? She’s already been accepted to four other schools for biomedical engineering with very generous merit scholarships and none of those have these types of stipulations. I would hate to have her miss out on one of those schools if there is a chance of her not “passing” UConn’s bridge program. Thanks everyone!
@greenhk Don’t worry it doesn’t appear to be a pass/fail. Its just a prep program. If she chooses to attend UCONN and the Bridge program she will be a step ahead of her engineering classmates who didn’t attend and will have a group of friends in her major on Day 1 of regular classes. It’s better than an orientation
S accepted yesterday to the joint engineering/business (mem) program. In state, 3.85 wgpa, honors classes and one AP, stem score were very high, act 30, band, eagle scout, summer job, et al… older S at uconn. Best of luck to all.
My S accepted also to same program @capedorysailor
@bdevoe similar situation here. He got news re UDel and Uconn on Saturday. Udel has better ranked engineering - 10 spots better - than uconn, umass engineering is ranked the same as Udel. My S is doing joint engineering/business and uconn business ranks higher than udel and umass i believe so thinking…one thing about udel is there big endowment…3-4x of uconn and umass…that could mean strong alumni network and likely helpful post college…maybe…
Hi all and congrats to all that got in! I just ask that everyone pleeasee let UCONN know asap if you decide to go elsewhere, or to decide to take yourself off the waitlist, as my son/and others will be anxiously waiting on the wait list. I am so proud of him for his resilience. He is very passionate about going, is not negative in any way, and conversely is upbeat and very very happy/and very thankful to be on the wait list. We are OOS, and he had other great options with strong merit$, but his heart is 110% with UCONN. His spirit is strong, and resiliency and ‘sticktuitiveness’ are great traits to have for life. Thanks all for your understanding!
@becautious from what I read online about 1400 accepted off the waitlist so he has a good chance. Most people decide their school choice in April after all acceptances and financial aid come in. He sounds like a great kid!
@en5nee My daughter also did a nursing internship last summer. When we went to the open house, they said the average ACT for accepted nursing majors was 26. My daughter has a 29, a 3.8 gpa, 5 AP classes, 2 honors classes, tons of ECs and volunteer hours. I hear what you are saying,we are also hoping that there was some sort of mistake and she was actually accepted into nursing. UConn is without a doubt her first choice and she has had her heart set on attending since we visited. But she is also set on pursuing a nursing degree. She has been accepted into nursing programs at Penn State, UDel, Temple and pre nursing at University of Kentucky. I know that there are kids who are waiting anxiously and hoping to get off the waitlist, so we will see what the official letter says and then decline if necessary. Best of luck to you!! And congratulations to all who have been accepted!!
@becautious Yes, your son seems like a great, upbeat positive young man. I truly hope he gets in off the waitlist! I think he has a great shot.
@becautious I apologize. I am very new to this site. I should have stated my above post differently. I was trying to say that I agree with @Llparent101 that your son sounds like a great kid!
@bb0721 sounds like we are in the same situation! thanks for the reply, i was also accepted into Udel and temple, , hopefully everything works out well for you too!
Hi @bb0721 ! I guess we ought to wait for the letter as well. My daughter has been accepted and given scholarships to every school she has applied to for nursing, she has pretty good overall stats 4.2 GPA, 500 hours of volunteer, lots of great EC’s, gymnast, etc. Her test scores got better and superscored well, she won’t let me post them, but similar to your daughter She was accepted into ACES with pre Kinesiology for a major. When we looked back at the common app, we noticed her second choice major was kinesiology. We had not recollection of that choice and wonder if that had something to do with putting her into the ACES program. Did your daughter have just ACES down or ACES plus a pre major. I’m very confused about all of this.
I was waitlisted yesterday from the engineering program at Storrs. I know the stats are pretty good for me to get in, but I wish UConn would tell me where I am on the waiting list in regards to the top or bottom for getting in. Is there anything I can do to help my chances, such as have a teacher send an extra letter telling them that I’ve exceeded expectations in a class (my teacher offered b/c he was so proud of my progress)? It’s my top choice to go here so I really want to get in.
@netter11 and @bb0721 Good luck to your daughters. My daughter is pursuing Nursing as well. She was accepted to UCONN, UNH, University of Portland, but was not at University of Minnesota and is waiting on some schools in California. Nursing is such a competitive program and the application/acceptance process is an emotional roller coaster. Both your daughters have impressive stats and I’m sure they will be successful wherever they end up. Keep the faith
Hey @netter11 ! It sounds like there are a few kids in the same boat. There was no pre major listed with her acceptance, just ACES. She did not list anything on the common app as a second choice. I’m not sure if there is a connection to your daughter getting put into ACES and her second choice on common app. I would wonder too! And, I agree with you, it is confusing. My gut tells me that my daughter just didn’t meet their criteria this year. But that second paragraph after the acceptance implies that there is a slim chance that the online information may not be 100% accurate. It’s difficult not to hold out hope, especially when your child is so disappointed right now. Are you oos too? @en5nee are you oos?
@swellssoccer I just read a couple of articles last night about getting taken off of the waitlist and accepted. They gave a few ideas like calling and sending extra recomendations, etc. Google the topic. Good luck!
