UCONN Class of 2020 Decision Thread- for Storrs location

@katniss1 Hi- and again, thank you. Quick question: Are you sure your daughter got off in late April? Everyone else seems to have heard later May. Either would be awesome! Keepin the faith!

Unfortunately, a lot of kids submit their acceptance to their school of choice sometime in April and don’t withdraw from the others and are removed after May 1 automatically.

I’ll have to make sure to withdraw from the others once I decide next month.

@TLD1267 - in state tuition for Rutgers/TCNJ is $15K - $16K. Tuition + room & board is about $26K to $28K for these two schools. So, while NJ state schools are pretty expensive compared to most state schools, tuition is not $31K to $35K at any NJ public school. UConn is a popular public school destination for many NJ college bound kids.

@Themclos I got a letter from Rutgers last year telling me I should expect to pay $31,00….that is books, fees, all the extras. Even UCONN has these costs. a few hundred dollars extra every semester for the UCONN shuttle, fee to take a lab class, technology fee, fee for the UCONN student Union to run free programs all year every weekend,Infrastructure fee, University fee….see below. My daughters best friend started TCNJ in Sept…it adds up to over $28k very quickly!

I think we need to tell our children whether they got into UCONN or not, at the end of the day for the most part, it really doesn’t matter where you go, what matters is the time they put into their college years and their passion in finding a career that interests them in the long run…

Hi @becautious - on your question, I checked with my D yesterday before I posted. Yes she remembers it was late April because she was on the verge of committing to UNH for their May 1 deadline when she heard from UConn. Not sure why she heard so quickly, or if her letter did any good or maybe there were more openings in her major (PNB at the time). Just wanted to let you all know there could be exceptions to that end of May date.

@Katniss Thanks for checking! All good!

does anyone know when they release honors program invitations?

Just wondering if anyone got the official letter in mail today?

We don’t even have a decision posted yet.

My daughter checked her status today and was admitted to Storrs. Her major is mathematics/actuarial science. Just had a brief note saying that she will receive a formal acceptance letter in the mail. Her stats are 4.37 weighted GPA. All honors and AP classes. Lots of extra curricular activities. Ranked 9/250 in graduating class. 1760 on SAT. She was afraid her SAT would be a problem. We are OOS but her major is part of the New England tuition break program (so about 1 1/2 times in state tuition). She is still waiting to hear from a few other colleges before she makes her decision. Good luck to everyone.

@uconnbleedblue I spoke with a staff member this morning - she said late applicants will be notified around mid-March. Only two more weeks to go - then the wait is finally over!

Thanks but my son actually applied by the deadline so I’m wondering why it isn’t showing a decision.

@uconnbleedblue two years ago the decisions came out over a few week period.

Were all supporting documents sent in by the deadline also?

Yes but I think you are right because website states decisions will begin March 1st. I heard they continue posting through March 15th.

@Greegel2 thanks, i will definitely look into that tonight, I really want to go there

My D was accepted today to Physiology and Neurobiology. We are OOS - Texas. Stats= 31- 2090 - 3.79 top 25 in an unreal competitive public school. Very happy but need to see the finances of it.

Are merit scholarship notifications available online yet for those who have been accepted?
