UCR Major Change?

Hey guys,

I'm an incoming freshman who decided to major in English (not really a wise decision on my part..) and after learning about different other programs I really want to change my major to Environmental Engineering (yeah I know a huge stretch, but I really love it)

Is there a way to change your major before Highlander Orientation or can I change it at Orientation?

Please and Thank You!

(:

You can change it at orientation  As an English major, your academic adviser should be Linda. Talk to her once you meet on your orientation date. She’ll be able to talk you through the process.

Do you think if I change my major to engineering I could still take a foreign language?
I really want to take Japanese

Bourns College of Engineering doesn’t require a foreign language, so you’d have to work something out with your adviser if you wanted to take Japanese. It might count as a humanities class or something, but your adviser is the one who could help you figure it out. If it won’t meet your major requirements, you could probably minor in Japanese if you think you can handle engineering plus the foreign language workload.
