UCR Regents/Chancellor's Scholarship

I feel like I can't find this information anywhere! But do you guys know of the average high school stats to get a Regents or Chancellor's scholarship from UC Riverside?

The whole Regents thing at the UCs can seem complicated. Some of the UCs are even using “need” to determine awards. And, some UCs are just giving small amounts for Regents and some are giving larger amounts. Don’t know if some of their awards are targeted at highly-desirable students (like URMs or ???)

I don’t know if UCR publishes any kind of stats as to who gets Regents/Chancellors, but if you look at the SAT middle quartiles below, it might be safe to guess that if your GPA is high **AND **your test scores are well above the middle quartiles, then you might get an award.

My friend’s D had a 2030 SAT/ 4.2 GPA and she was awarded $2000 or $4000 (can’t remember the exact amount). She is low income, so she also qualified for Blue and Gold, so don’t know if that affected her scholarship award or not.

Middle 50% of First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 450 - 560
SAT Math:… 480 - 610
SAT Writing:… 460 - 570

Average non-need based aid: $5,886 (merit scholarship)

The above merit aid “average” doesn’t really tell you much, but of the limited number of students who got merit aid, that was the average amount awarded.

My D is Regents at UCSD. They told us they awarded Regents to the top 1 percent of those accepted. At UCSD, the scholarship is a mix of need and merit.

Tatin…how much was your D awarded for her Regents merit scholarship?

And, you say that it was a mix of “need and merit”??? So do you mean that the amount awarded your D was greater because she had demonstrated need? I think that’s what happens at Cal. If you don’t have need, then you only get like $1k…but if you have need, you can get a lot more.

Top 1%? that would require very high stats…sounds like 2280+ SAT.

I cannot recall without looking it up, but the thinking at UCSD is that the Regents should be able to graduate without student loans. You have to keep up your GPA to keep getting it, of course.

My D also got Regents at UCSB and UCD and other awards at UCB and UCLA, but UCSD offered the most.
