hey guys
so im trying to decide whether I should go to UCR or Penn state... I'm a california residence so it's a lot cheaper to go to UCR. Actually, with the grants+financial aid, UCR would be literally FREE of charge. Going to Penn State is going to cost way too much and the financial aid sucked, so yeah. And from what I've heard, UCR seems to be looked down upon a lot.. So in the end, it comes down to RANK vs. MONEY. UCR = free but low rank college.. Penn State= costs way too much.. better school i guess? thanks guys.. it means a lot to me :)

UCR is a “good enough” college. It isn’t “low ranked”.
UCR isn’t looked down upon by employers. Who cares what a bunch of 18 year olds think? They’re not employers.

If you qualified for lots of UC aid, then that means that your family isn’t high income.

How would you pay for PSU? Loans? Co-signed by who?

It sounds like you’d have over $100k in debt. That is waaaaayyyyyy toooo much.

What is your career goal and how much do you think you’d be earning upon graduation?

UCR is a good school, still top 100 and very close to Penn State. I’d go to UCR if I were you.

I would not go heavily into debt for PSU compared to UCR.

Go to UCR. Penn State is not worth the extra cost.

although im not sure yet i want to be a teacher so i put myself in the education major… i know that Penn state uni has a really good education program but important not sure with UCR…

???

Who the heck considers paying high OOS costs as an education major? That is just nutty.

HOW would you pay for PSU? Loans? What very naive person would qualify and co-sign?

UCR has a very strong education dept. It’s education grad school ranks #67 in the nation.

No school is going to pay a PSU education major more money than at UCR education major.

Oh my…who the heck has been advising you?

Go to UCR - Penn State is not worth the extra cost.
