UC's are the most dangerous schools in the nation?

Just came across this data stating that UCLA, Berkeley and Riverside are among the very most dangerous/violent campuses in the country:

[Most Dangerous Colleges ? Clery vs FBI - Business Insider](http://www.businessinsider.com/most-dangerous-colleges--clery-vs-fbi-2012-11)

Admittedly Berkeley is not in a great neighborhood and yes there are homeless roaming the campus, but students don’t seem to report anything more than stolen bikes and laptops.
As for UCLA - it is surrounded by Beverley Hills and Bel Air which aren’t exactly frightening areas.
On top of that, all the campuses seem to pride the intricate UC security systems.

Am I the only one disturbed by these findings?

this is absolutely untrue. my time at UC San Diego, i have not feared for my life. instead, i usually walk after midnight on campus and even off campus and no negative incident so far. as for berkeley when i stayed there for a week, yeah, the homeless people were there, but i never felt unsafe.

My guess is that there are a lot of homeless people near UCLA. UCSD and UCI are not as dangerous, but I certainly would not walk there alone at 3:00am.
