@Nick2190 you deserve the world with those scores!
I have the exact same stats as you!! UCSB was a total reach school for me as I take tests incredibly poorly, which brings down my grades at the end of the year (with finals and all) and then I end with a B or B-. How did you feel about your essays, though??
@xxkookiexx that was to you^^
@casun: I think that the decisions posted earlier will stand. Hopefully it wil not be a repeat of the glitch at UCR last year.
applied as bio chem. this is my last hopeā¦ my stats are 1210 SAT and 4.2 Unweighted GPA, great essays and extra curricular. would appreciate some feedback because this is my last school
@crystallight may I ask what was your daughterās stats?
This will literally be the longest 24 hours of our life!
@Gumbymom what was last yearās UCR glitch?
@froggypop: https://www.pe.com/2017/03/10/uc-riverside-posts-admission-notices-then-takes-them-back/
@swagmastero420 i totally didnt expect it at all!! my friend told me decisions were out and i was expecting a flat out rejection! i dont think my essays were super stellar, but they were very unique. i explained why i had an extreme downward trend in grades in one of my essays. also my description of ecās were pretty strong too
@xxkookiexx ahh well congrats!!!:ā)
Wait what I am confused did decisions come out already? Seeing people post about it??
I just love being rejected. Especially with a 4.1 Capped and 1510 SAT
:))
@neonblizzard there was a glitch from 3-335 where decisions came out and then they locked the portal
Are you in-state or OOS? Ethnicity? SAT? @froggypop
Was present during the glitch, and got flat out rejected. Luckily I got into UCLA for CS though, so thatās a really nice plus. Still would love UCSB though, so Iāll see what I can do.
Curious though, if anyone knows. If the decisions are ādoneā why not just post them now? The point of them making us wait for this long is so they can have time to finish decisionsā¦ donāt see a reason then why they have to make us wait even more xD
Buuut that is for anyone to know. Itās been asked, and I can see why, but I would like to ask as well, is it possible that decisions arenāt complete?
Thanks in advance everyone, and like a previous poster said, please please PLEASE donāt let any college acceptance/rejection/waitlist or whatever define who you are. Applying for college is the first step that SO many people donāt even take. Applying shows initiative, and if you keep that, doesnāt matter what accepts you or doesnāt, you will succeed. I know some could say itās easy for me to say that in such a hopeful tone cause of my (very lucky considering my UCSB rejection) UCLA acceptance, please trust that Iām crushed as everyone who saw that they didnāt get in to UCSB, for it was my number one school as well.
Anyways, thanks again everyone, and Iām wishing everyone has a great day
~ Brasiliana7
@brasiliana7 you got into ucla for Cs and rejected UCSB?! Thatās crazy! What were your stats
I got into UCR, UC DAVIS, UCSC, UCSD, and UCLA as undeclared life science major in all of them. Chances for UCSB too?
Gpa: 4.2 weighted
Sat: 1310/1600
EC: not many, but made a huge improvemt junior year and did things that were passionate to me
Essay: super 100000% passionate with heart and tears (talked about my speech disorder, being poor, only child, etc etc)
Good luck!!!
I have a 4.33 weighted UC GPA, 3.88 UW, and a 1550 SAT and was denied by UCLA, accepted to UCSD, and waitlisted to Davis. Chances for SB? Iāve applied as International relations, poly sci, or econ to all of my UC schools and Iām in state.
@DDHH2017 Please forgive me if I am copying and pasting instead of typing everything up
"But here are my stats:
SAT: 1400 (700 each category)
Essays: 6,5,6 (not that good but does it count much?)
SAT Math 2: Actually didnāt take it, and Iām kind of freaking out a bit cause after going through all 51 pages of UCSBās last year forum, and this yearās forum lots of people have it. Was it required? I know it was recommended, but was it a full on requirement? If so, please kindly tell me in a light manner, as it shall be then obvious that any hope of getting into UCSB is all lost
GPA: applied with a 3.95 UW
UC GPA: Calculators tell me its 4.05
Weighted: Something around 4.2 - 4.3
Class Rank: lucky number 7 out of 700 (really out of 693)
AP and Honor Classes total: 8 (that i applied with) + 4 more this year I donāt know if those count as well
Other things I hear schoolās like UC consider:
- Income Bracket: $30k to $50k, school considered "underrepresented and low socioeconomically"
- Male Minority
- Parent is retired U.S. Navy
- Fortunate enough to get chosen for Boy's State as a delegate
- First Generation College Student
ECAs:
- 2 years of Orchestra, first violin and first viola chair, as well as President both years (class got cut though, I added that in)
- 4 years of MCJROTC, at the time of applying I was second in command of my whole company, known as the Executive Officer I added in all the awards I've gotten with that
- 1 year of Jazz Band and Trumpet Choir
- 3 years of Academic League (Varsity all 3 years), Vice President for last two years, and I also added in the awards I've gotten with that
- 1 year in student council
AP Classes:
AP Physics: a dismal 2, but I was a sophomore taking my shot, did well in the class though xD
AP Comp Sci A: 3 (well then )
AP Calc AB: 3
AP World History: 4
AP English Language: 4
AP US History: 4
AP Environmental Science: 4
Other little things to consider:
- I'm currently in AP Calc B/C
- I've furthered my coding experience, and one of my essays was about that
- My essays were pretty decent from my POV, and surely highlighted every aspect of what I do from my music playing to my times in JROTC to my coding endeavors
- I have 200+ community service hours, mostly in one area, but also some hours in other places as well which I have noted
- I'm a Seal Bearer in CSF but I don't thing UCSB knows that because I didn't state that anywhere in the application"
There it is! Hopefully that helps
