UCSB Admission - Class of 2022

I received an invitation to the Chancellor Reception which I think that means I got accepted. I don’t really have a top school but this was exciting. I have a 4.2 gpa with a 31 act. I take full IB and currently have all A’s in 7 IB classes. I applied as engineering. I have been told if you get the Chancellor Reception that you are accepted, hope that’s true because engineering is hard to get into and that would make me happy haha.

@Kojisan Congrats on getting into Engineering. The acceptance rate is about half of what it is for the school overall. If you decide to go to UCSB, consider doing FSSP (Freshman Summer Start Program). You can get a great head start with real classes that help towards your major or degree, meet people that you’ll know for the rest of your time there, and transition into the school during a quieter time so that you’re a pro in the fall when it gets chaotic. The engineering programs are a nice size there, not too huge and overcrowded. The curriculum they have mapped out for you will get you done in 4 years and they will guarantee you get the classes required for the engineering major.

@youcee do you know the exact acceptance rate to get into COE at Ucsb?

D got accepted to UCI’s campus wide honors, but nothing so far from UCSB. I find that strange.

3.99 uw, 4.2 UC GPA, 32 ACT.

@PawanGhimire 3 years ago they said 15.x% for engineering at an orientation or admitted students day. I also saw 19% somewhere, so 15-19%. I doubt it’s gotten any easier since then.

If you haven’t gotten regents for ucsb yet is there no chance of getting it? Or will they send letters out in waves until early March like they’ve done in previous years? Also have all chancellors invitations gone out already? I have strong stats and ECs/essays so I would be kind of surprised if I don’t at least get the chancellors invite, but haven’t got anything yet.

@youcee thank you so much for the advice. I’ll consider that. I also was informed this morning about my status at UCI. I GOT ACCEPTED. It’s been a really good week haha

this is what I got today:
I am an OOS student. 1580 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, SAT MAth2 800, SAT Eng. lit 740; AP National scholar; taken over 6 post AP courses

Congratulations on being selected as a recipient for the UC Santa Barbara Regents Scholarship! On behalf of the Office of Admissions, we are thrilled to offer you this opportunity and welcome you to the UCSB community. We also want to congratulate you on your preliminary notification of admission to our campus! Our formal admissions decisions will be posted online through the UCSB Application Status Portal on March 20 at 3 p.m. PST.

Was this an email? @kesarasara

Where do you find out acceptances? Email or portal?

email only. portal is not updated till march

Yes via email. And yesterday I got a letter by regular post too

I WANT TO GET IN SOOOO BAD!! counting down the days til march 20th

I can’t make it to the reception because of a family visit, but can anyone update me on any info? Especially those going to the San Jose reception?

If my daughter ends up going I will send an update! Congrats!

We’re going to the San Jose one. Will update.

When you click on “check my financial aid status” in your portal, has it always led to a page that says “Prospective Student” and “unofficial financial aid award letter is currently unavailable?” I think I’ve clicked that link before, but don’t remember what it said.

@YoungOne4 Now it has the green checkmark saying your fafsa has been accepted on time.

Thanks @CopperlineX2. Funny you say that, because I don’t have a green checkmark or mention of the FAFSA being received (even though it was sent in October). Do you see that on the main FA screen, or do you log in to “MyAid Status?”

@YoungOne4 Myaid status. We clicked the aid status link because we noticed UCI had some info about financial aid and wondered if UCSB had info too. Before the update, it always had red writing with an error code saying page not found or something of that nature.
