UCSB Admission - Class of 2022

How about UCLA? Applied to both.

Is it possible for me to get into bio sci with a 27 ACT? If it helps- I’ve had multiple English teachers read my prompts and have been told that they are excellent. My GPA is 4.4 W 3.95 UW. 150+ volunteer hours & have played sports all four years

@calpolyplzz yes a 27 is not bad at all. Of course there will always be those with higher stats but a 27 is honestly no different to a 30 to me. As long as it fits in the 50% accepted you will be all good!

Thank you so much @aweinst

What time on March 20 does UCSB release decisions?

@collegedreamer167 from looking at the ucsb 2021 thread everyone thought it’d be up at 3pm pst but it came out at 2pm pst. so most likely sometime in the afternoon.

I got in! Regents!

Congrats!!! Awesome

So I read on Ms. Sun’s blog that UCSB is one the few UC campuses (the other two are Merced and riverside) that doesn’t review an application holistically. Is this true? I thought UCSB takes extra curricular and personal essays into consideration?

@collegedreamer167 That’s untrue according to the admissions representative who my D and I met with when touring the campus last spring. SB looks at applications with a 50/50 holistic scale. The other UC’s are more 70/30. They take both academics and EC’s/awards/essays, etc. into consideration equally.

did all regents scholars come out already? I got a letter in the mail inviting me to the scholars reception, but does that mean I was accepted as a regents scholar? oos ct

any updates?

does ucsb offer any kind of financial aid to oos?

@mickeyboggs: Other than Regents, OOS students get little to no financial aid. I suggest you run the net price calculator to get an estimate but expect to pay full fees. Since decisions will be out soon, you should be getting a FA package soon if accepted.

Hi @Gumbymom I have a question I’m hoping you can help with. My S18 got honors at UCI and chancellors at UCSB. Looks like a standard acceptance at Davis. For other UCs, do they all have honors programs and if they do, I assume they all have different criteria for that?

@lovespink: Yes each UC does have an honors program and they all do have different criteria. Even though your son did not get into the Honors college at UCD as an in-coming Freshman, there is always an opportunity to apply to these Honors programs as a matriculated student.

any updates from ongoing reception??

Is there a UCSD thread? I can’t find one
