Hello, I’m currently a junior who is nearing the end of the school year. Since the year isn’t over my weighted gpa may lead in the range of 3.6-3.8, I have taken multiple honors and AP courses and have also registered for a rigorous senior year class schedule. My SAT is a 1320 and I have completed nearly 300 hours of community service. I have conducted research on shark behavior with multiple research organizations surrounding zoology/marine life conservation and behavior and I intend to major in a biology related field(zoology or marine biology.) My question is that what is my chance of getting accepted into UCSB, CSULB, or UCLA with such stats and experience?
What is your unweighted GPA?
Is your GPA the UC Capped weighted? UCSB/UCLA like community service but a GPA below 4.0 capped weighted will not be an easy admit for either UCSB or UCLA. Definitely worth an application but make sure you have some solid Safety and Match schools on your list.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSB: 38%
UCLA; 10%
2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCSB: 4.13
UCLA: 4.23
2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:
UCSB: 1270-1500
UCLA: 1340-1540
CSULB is a good Match school. You need to apply widely and I would include UC Santa Cruz as a High Match school, UCSC as another Reach school, SDSU as a High Match school and CSU Monterey Bay as a Safety to name a few.
Is a 3.8 gpa weighted low for UCSB if I’m an in state applicant, pre-bio major, photography and videography as extracurriculars, and 300+ hours of community service?
3.6 unweighted
Based on UC statistical data, your GPA and SAT scores are below the averages but since admissions is not just based on GPA and test scores, you of course still have a chance at UCSB. You need to come up with a balanced college list that includes a couple of likely schools, target schools and reach schools. Since 6 of the 9 UC campuses have an average UC GPA capped weighted above 4.0, I would target UC Santa Cruz, Riverside and Merced. If you are CA resident, then you have 23 Cal states in which to consider such as Cal Poly Pomona, SLO, SDSU, CSU Long Beach etc…
What is your HS course rigor? UC’s consider HS course rigor very important.
Apply widely and you will some good options in the end.
