UCSB and UCB Chance?

Do I have a chance to transfer to UCSB and UCB?

Major: Statistical Science (Non-selective, I think)

GPA: 3.41

Prereq: no, missing some like differential equations, discrete math, and data structures.

IGETC: yes

TAG: no

Personal Statements: I spent a lot of time working on them and believe my essays are well written.

EC: Math Tutor, worked at subway, started a computer repair business, and did volunteering back in high school.

Grade Trends: I attended a middle college high school (A program that mandates you to take college classes while enrolled in HS) and was depressed (Mentioned in Personal Statement), which made me perform average on my GE classes. I graduated high school early and recovered from my depression, which led to me trying extremely hard raising my 2.9 gpa to a 3.4 gpa in one year by acing calculus, chem, and comp sci classes.

A response would be extremely helpful and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Also, I am a first generation college student.

Congrats on recoverig from depression and doing so well since then.

While admissions will like your upward trend, missing prerequisites is a huge reason to not be admitted. That said, I think you still have a shot af UCSB, but UCB is probably not happening (with 3 missing prereqs). If you had them completed, then you could have a shot at UCB, but even then, you would be borderline at best (but they love upward trends and applicants overcoming adversity).

I just checked again and I am missing 2 pre reqs for both school. Also, thank you for the encouragement.

Hope for the best, expect the worst regarding berkeley. They are very strict about pre reqs being done and usually deny people who don’t have them completed, even if they are great candidates
