UCSB Appeal Admission

Has anyone been accepted into UCSB through appeal admission? If so were u on the waitlist or being flat out denied?

They don’t set aside seats for appeals, so it’s honesty a waste of time.

If the reason you are appealing is because you didn’t like the decision, then your appeal will probably be unsuccessful.

Appeals might be considered if there was an error on the part of either the HS or the college with paperwork, name changes, etc. If you have a concern that there was paperwork missing or erred, then you might have a basis for an appeal, but they don’t have to accept you.

From the UCSB website about appeals:
Appeal Process

We regret that we are unable to offer admission to all qualified applicants. UCSB does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every application has gone through extensive reviews. For more information on the selection process, please visit our Freshman Selection Criteria and Transfer Eligibility and Selection pages.

For an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new information that was not present in the application—information that clearly shows the student to be stronger overall than had been earlier evidenced.
Submitting an Appeal for Fall Quarter 2018

To appeal for fall quarter 2018, send us a letter requesting that we reconsider your application. The letter must be written by the applicant. Appeals received after the deadline may not be considered. Email or fax submissions will not be reviewed.

Postmark Deadline
Freshman applicants: April 15, 2018
Transfer applicants: June 15, 2018
The letter must state the applicant’s reasons for appealing the initial decision. The letter should not simply repeat information that was presented in the application. If the basis for the appeal is a changed grade or an incorrectly reported test score, please provide documentation (such as a transcript or a revised score report) in the same envelope as your letter of appeal.

Recommendations
We strongly recommend that you include copies of all high school and college transcripts.
Letters of recommendation are not required. If letters are included, the limit is two.

We appreciate your interest in UC Santa Barbara.

I have read a lot about people who appeal and somehow got it. I messed up my UC application and I hope somehow I can get in through appeal admission

How did you mess up your UC application? If it is an error on your part, that is not a good basis for an appeal.

Just my grades, and mechanical errors in my personal insights. I know very few people got in with an appeal, but my college advisor she got in with an appeal, I’m so disappointed UCSB is my top choice.
