<p>It means you will be told you are admitted at the reception. So basically, if you got the email, you’re in. Can those of you who got it post stats?</p>
<p>^^ Last year, two students posted on this forum that they attended the reception in Chicago. Not only were all those at the reception NOT told they were admitted at that time, these two students were ultimately rejected by UCSB. It seems that the receptions in CA are the ones where all attendees are told they are admitted (at least that has been the case in the past). </p>

‘only the top 1% of applicants are invited’? Is there a correlation between this invite and a regents invite?</p>
<p>Just from looking at the old threads, those in CA were admitted but it was all honors college type people, not necessarily regents but just those near the top viewed HOLISTICALLY. Most acceptances were in March. I think most were honors college at the dinner but I’d have to go back and check. I think if you ARE regents you are invited, but being invited doesn’t mean you are regents.</p>

I live in the San Diego area, so would I have a chance of being invited to the Irvine dinner? </p>
<p>S was invited 3 years ago. He attended the San Jose event. They were told that they were admitted and would be invited to Honors Program. He was ultimately accepted, however, he was offered admission to his alternate major and did not accept admission. </p>
<p>Got an email on 02/21 for an invite to the one in San Jose. I was actually pretty surprised, my stats are not that great: GPA: 3.35, ACT: 31, SAT II: Math 2 - 550, Bio M - 720. I applied for Biology in the College of Creative Studies. I’m guessing my essays (and abundance of community service hours) helped a lot, I’m a great writer…</p>

<p>S was invited last year. Yes, at the San Jose reception the applicants were told ‘they were in’. S went to the engineering breakout session where they were informed they would be in the honors college. He specifically asked whether or not he was admitted to his 1st choice major. There had been situations in the past where an invited student later found out they were not admitted to their 1st choice major. We were told UCSB was trying very hard no to let that happen anymore.</p>
<p>D was invited this year to the reception in San Jose. 4.0 UGPA but only took the SAT once. Can’t remember the exact score but it was around 1600. We are hoping it means she made it in. 
She has an insane amount of EC Activities and has worked since the age of 14 pretty regularly.</p>
