UCSB Chancellor's Reception

I just received a Chancellor’s Reception invitation in the mail, and I am a little confused by what this means. The invitation says that I am invited to a “UC Santa Barbara reception honoring top applicants”. Does this mean I have been accepted? Also, what will happen at the reception? Can I take my parent as one of the guests? Is it some kind of formal event? Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard that everyone who gets invited is accepted from here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-santa-barbara/1614873-ucsb-chancellors-reception-2014.html.
I got one too, so I’m pumped.

Congrats to you both. I got one as well. It seems we’re in

I got one too and I am really pumped too. Congrats to you both eLCeenor and Cardinalgold

Hey! I just got this invite. Does this mean we’re already in? Also, do you guys know how many kids get these invites??

So excited!! Just got mine today, hopefully it means we are in!!

I got the invite too, and really hope you guys are right about it meaning we’re in! I don’t want to just get my hopes up and end up receiving a rejection letter.

Yes! it’s an unofficial acceptance.

My child also received an invite in the mail. Apparently to RSVP for the reception there is some sort of ID number you need, which the website says is included in an invitation “email.” We received the invite in the mail, but not an “email” with any confirmation number. And the hard copy of the invite does not include an ID. Does anyone have info about this? Thanks and best wishes to all.

@beatstanford‌ are you referring to the perm number? I didn’t get an email invitation either but I believe the perm number was included in the application confirmation they sent back in December.

@beatstanford the perm number should be in an email sent in Nov/Dec/Jan. I was in a state of panic earlier today too, as I tried to RSVP, but I eventually figured it out.

Thanks for the info about the permanent number. We will figure it out and RSVP. Congrats to both of you.

I recieved an invitation through the mail and thought because of these threads that this meant I was accepted. I saw in one forum that there was one reception two years ago in Chicago where inviteed were not all admitted and it said that out of state students were not guaranteed admission. I am from New York and will be attending the reception in the city and am worried that my admission is not guaranteed.
