SAT: 1160/1760
Practice ACT: 26 (I'm taking it in June for the first time and will most likely be taking it again in the fall).

APs: European History, Psychology, U.S. History, English Language & Composition
APs for senior year: Calculus AB, Statistics, English Literature & Composition, Macroeconomics, Government & Political Systems

Ethnicity: Hispanic
Community Sevice: Around 200+ hours.

Also: any recommendations to improve my chances? Improving my test scores? More ECs? Any input is much appreciated. =]

Did you take/pass all your ap tests?
Doing well in APs are just as important as taking them. I’d say raise your SAT to at least 1900 and you would be a shoo-in.

Just some advice: Unless you really like English, don’t take AP Lit. Since you’ve already finished AP Lang (I assume you 3’d), taking AP Lit doesn’t give you any more credits here.
But, just like everyone else says, you really should up your SAT’s. Try for high 1900’s.
Otherwise, you’ve got a good chance.

I’m still undecided on my major. Does UCSB like it when you go in with your major decided?

So far I got a 4 on Euro, and then I took English Lang., Psychology, and APUSH this year (all of which I believe I passed).

And I do plan on doing some serious studying for the ACT this summer so I can boost my score, although I’ve had some trouble finding a good book to study with (since it seems like there isn’t any single good book to study from).

No; going in undecided is perfectly fine. Just asking which major you were thinking about as some majors - impacted majors, in which your admissions are directly compared to others within (I believe) only the same major - make things more difficult to get into colleges. Many have said it’s actually easier to get into college Undecided.

That’s a good plan. If you can, try to find a suitable prep class to help you - having a professional advisor is always a help.
By far, the best thing to do to study for standardized tests, such as the SAT, ACT, and AP tests, is by practicing tests as much as possible, but going over your tests. Only by going over your mistakes (and your correct answers) can you learn from and do better on future tests.

Good luck. Again, if you feel you passed AP Lang, don’t bother taking AP Lit unless you like English. AP Lit, I felt, was AP Lang on mega-steroids (about 5x-10x harder than you expect). And taking it doesn’t give you any more credits than if you 5’d AP Lang.

That’s true. You personal statement have quite an impact. So does your major. If you’re planning to go into impacted majors such as EE or CE etc., unless you’re confident with your achievements, you should go in undecided. Though, if you got in as undecided and you want to switch into an impacted major, it might be kinda tough.
Like the others said; if you think you did well on APLang, no point taking AP lit unless you really do like English.
