Holy moly, I could see my unofficial net cost, 10k…
@bobaloverr
I have the same net cost. :-/ Hopefully the others schools I applied to will offer more aid.
Yeah that’s what I meant.
Looks like my financial aid isn’t posted yet. It just says my FAFSA was received
When you post that your personal statement is 4/10, is that your opinion of it or is there an objective rating of some sort that I’m not tracking?
It was only through a college confidential thread that I found out some decisions were out, never got an email!
Tagged and admitted as a Classics major, 3.82 GPA.
Edit: CA community college transfer
Getting a little nervous. I tagged and had a high GPA yet I’m still pending. Could it be because my FAFSA was submitted later?
Fasfa won’t effect admissions. Only your financial aid if you do get accepted
@bobaloverr @562Cornejo if you look at it only look at the room and board and tuition prices and then subtract the grants. The rest is misc spending money if you want to look at it like that. What your mandatory costs are aren’t that bad. I got the same net cost.
@yakattak I judged my essay on my own personal opinion. I completed the essay soon before the deadline, so it probably was not that great. Especially for the second essay, I would say that it was quite average since there was not anything interesting to say in that one. For the first essay, I think I did a better job with talking about what kind of work I would like to study in applied mathematics (systems theory, dynamical systems and differential equations). Still though, I would judge them to be run-of-the mill since I didn’t have a narrative of triumph over adversity or a narrative of great success.
I was given 22k. Would I get more money if I declared that I intend to live in on-campus housing? (I checked off campus on fafsa).
I really just want to live in the nicest single bedroom apartment possible…
Yes. You will. You’ll also need to request a revision after you change the fasfa to on campus. But you have to actually live on campus. Or you’ll end up paying back money
How do I check the aid offer?
Have they not made my financial aid available because I have not updated my fafsa with this years tax info? ( I used last years as a reference as instructed by the fafsa)
Are you guys counting workstudy and loans as aid?
@Philosoup I’m not because it’s something that has to be paid back. I’m taking it as a loan that FAFSA provides.
@uchopefuly414
If I selected “on-campus” housing for the FAFSA, but I want to live in one of the university-owned apartments, do I need to change my FAFSA?
Or does it make no difference to UCSB since they own the apartments?
guys when is the next wave of acceptances coming ?
If UCSB OWNS the apartments it’s considered on campus. Like if you go to their website and it’s under their apartments then you’ll be fine. maybe contact them and make sure the apartment is on campus because maybe they just own it but don’t consider it that, but I wouldn’t see the point in any school doing that?
@Calabrese95 NO idea, may be next Monday.
