<p>I was thinking with my stats that I would be invited to the reception but I wasn't. Are people only invited if there is a reception nearby where they live? I'm from Texas and the nearest one would be Denver. Was anyone else from Texas invited? Also, can you still get in to honors if you weren't invited to the chancellor's reception?</p>

<p>Yes, you can still be accepted as part of the honors program without being invited to the reception. My D was honors for fall of 2012 but not invited to the reception. It’s pretty tough to hang onto that honors program though if you are in a hard science. It’s very rigorous. Lots and lots and lots of studying and my D may be seeing her first C in her life, let alone no B’s. Be prepared to buckle down, even if HS AP’s and the SAT’s were a breeze for you. I think she’s lost her honors status. :(</p>
