UCSB Official Financial Aid Thread

Don’t worry, thinkchick. Do you realize how many people who are going to college will be jeopardized if they do cancel? They wont cancel it.

What are you talking about, Muserz? The Governor already said they’re planning on eliminating Cal Grants completely by 2011. The $24 billion deficit California has fly past you?

No, it hasn’t, but I am trying to keep optimistic. If you wish to bring a dark cloud, bring it. But some of us need a little hope.

Ok… so its been waaay past my deadline already, pretty much a month. But I just logged in the other day and found ANOTHER document there that wasn’t there before. I can’t remember the exact name, Parent Asset Form I think. Anyways, I’m wondering how this will affect my aid? It seems like this document popped up randomly… probably even after the deadline had passed. I’m going to assume the deadline doesn’t apply to this one?

Can someone who is a 2nd year student at UCSB post their EFC and FA package?

WCF, call the financial aid office. they are really nice and helpful.

I haven’t contacted the financial aid office yet, but I just checked my aid status again and they moved the deadline up to 7/16. Is this happening with anyone else? Why would they want additional docs from me?

Maybe they need them to verify previous doc.s. Call them and ask why.

I got my financial award letter already.

But, when is the deadline to accept the loans and know your official cal grant amount?

Lawcha, I think its around mid-summer we know our official cal grant amount.

i got my official award letter, but under the disbursement tab it says that my cal grant it “not confirmed” did anyone else have this???
i’m really worried, because that is the largest portion of money i’m getting and without it i probably won’t be able to go to ucsb at all…

cynstoletheworld, I did get that. Don’tw orry. Its just that the school/calgrants get a budget Mid-Summer and thats when they are able to confirm it. Don’t panic.

Can someone who is a first year student post their University of California Grant?

Last year I got $5045 as a first year student.

Can someone who is a second year student post their University of California Grant?

This year I got $1210 as a second year student.

My EFC for both years is $0.

I know someone who has an EFC of $11000 and received a University of California Grant of $5856.

Thanks.

I just wanted to know if the UC Grant was reduced for me due to lack of funding.

Thanks.

^^^^Did you have any scholarships? What was your Cal Grant last year and this year? University grants complement the State funded Cal Grant. In your second year, if you had Cal Grant B, the amount increases from around $ 1500 to $ 9000.

[EDIT]: nevermind… just going to email them and hope for the best

I still don’t have my official award letter, should I be worried?

I haven’t gotten my ACG yet and I am a second year student with a >3.00 GPA. :(

I have my official award letter but Cal Grant still hasn’t updated my final FAFSA…

chaos: if you actually read the type of aids given by UCSB, you’d see that ACG depends on your gpa on a yearly basis meaning from summer of one year to the next prior to the start of the school year. they wont award ACG until they verify that you’re not attending summer sessions and that will happen around the first week of august.

source: [UCSB Financial Aid](http://www.finaid.ucsb.edu/TypesOfFinAid.asp) i’d advise you to read it so you won’t be cheated out of any qualifying aids

Thanks, tr1p7s. :)
