UCSB Reception URGENT

Africastle: from the UCSB link…

• At the two California Receptions
: Break-out sessions will allow question & answer time with

 • The College of Letters and Science
 • The College of Engineering
 • The College of Creative Studies
 • The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships
 • Housing & Residential Services.

This is why those receptions are an hour longer.

My D received an invitation today for NYC. Unfortunately she can’t go, it’s the same day her school trip leaves for Europe. This was quite a surprise.

thanks for clarifying dietz

so does being invited from Los Angeles County mean you’re in?

@xamboy yeah

Did any of you guys apply for the gates scholarship? I did.

Well, I just RSVP’d that we’re going. Then we have to high tail it out of there later to head to JFK.

For anyone going to the San Jose reception can you post a quick synopsis of what happens because I am unable to attend.

@xamboy95–daughter and I will be going to San Jose reception. Will let you know. My older son is a student at ucsb and loves it there.

My son also received the “Meet your UCSB Admissions Counselor” email on Feb 8. He never received an invite for the reception. He did email his counselor back regarding some questions he had about financial aid and the honors program. The counselor answered his questions but nothing was said about acceptance. Still waiting.

I don’t think the invitions are related to the ‘meet your admissions counselor’ because I got the email, but never got an invition. Im a Santa Barbara native BTW so if you have some questions about SB feel free to ask, and I’ll try my best to answer them!

Cant wait to go this Sunday! :)

I received the invitation to the banquet, yet I have not received an email to meet my Admissions Counselor. Is this a bad sign?

If you are going to the banquet they tell you there that you got in.

They did not tell you that you were admitted at the Chicago Reception, and that they had not finished making all the decisions for the applicants, probably just in the Chicago area.

Did anyone attend the San Jose banquet which was held today? My D received the invitation but we could not go. So, I am curious.

Yes, they announced that all students were accepted. Presentation was very well done with a great speech by the Chancellor. A really cool way to accept the students.

Couldn’t go to the SJ banquet, but glad to hear that we’re in!

@calblaze were you able to talk to any professors? was it very insightful?
More details please if you can…

We had to leave at the break and only heard dean’s from various schools discuss arts and sciences, engineering, etc, and a general overview with video. However, it was quite impressive in that there were over 100 faculty and student representatives from the school. UCSB has impressive research faculty and looks like excellent opportunities for study abroad, internships, career counseling in pre-health, pre-law, and a great engineering program. They really went out of their way to praise and welcome accepted students and to show what UCSB has to offer. Kudos to them!

@calblaze thanks! Seems pretty cool, cannot wait…
