UCSB to CSULB

Hey guys. I’m a freshman attending UCSB, but I’m wondering if I could transfer as a lower division transfer to csulb after my first year at sb. ucsb is really far away from home and is way more expensive. I don’t want a huge debt on me once i graduate, and sb is gonna leave me with about $40,000 in debt. Help me out?

Also, do you think if i transfer to a JC during spring or sth, could I then apply to csulb as a lower division transfer?

According to the CSULB website, they are closed to lower division transfers.

NOTE: CSULB is closed to Lower Division Transfer Applications with the exception of a limited number of highly-qualified Nursing students.

I would complete the quarter at UCSB and start at your local CC and transfer as an upper division transfer for next year’s application cycle.

Thank you, so what you’re suggesting is that I just complete the fall quarter at SB and then transfer in Jan/Feb 2019 to a CC?

Yes, if that will be the best financially feasible solution. I personally think most students do not give their college a chance (more in being lonely/not “fitting” in) but since you have financial considerations, it would be best to get out of a huge amount of debt as early as possible.
