English major with a 3.2 GPA here. I’m pretty sure I’m right on the borderline but hopefully I make it in!

Evolutionary Anthropology with a 3.54. 95% sure I won’t get in because I’m completing my transferable math in Spring. Hopefully my high upward trend will help, but I doubt it.

UCSB Econ.

TAG
3.33 UC GPA
3.14 Major GPA (Microecon, Macroecon, Business Calc, Stats)
IGETC and pre-reqs done.

applying at an econ major. GPA:3.75 MAJOR GPA:3.67. i’ll have IGETC completed by Spring 2013. I know my numbers are good but i’m really worried because i’ve been reading that UCSB doesn’t accept people who don’t have their english and math done before the spring. Anyone know if this is true?

^From what I understand, they’re very strict on having the two English classes and at least one Math class finished by the end of the Fall. It’s also one of the TAG requirements. There was one guy on here last year who had a great stats, but was denied because he didn’t finish his Math in the Fall (it was planned for Spring). He later appealed and was accepted.

that’s somewhat comforting. I couldn’t TAG because i only had 27 unit done before the fall. Also it sucks that they would penalize you for not having those classes done before spring. The CC i am at has a ton of students and the first two semesters i was there it was really hard to get classes. And on top of that i had to take a pre req for english 1a along with a pre req for math before i could take the required classes. But oh well i hope my GPA is enough to get me through. I don’t wanna end up at a Cal State :/

^ youre right. i had the same dilema ernestob, And its the reason why I stayed an extra year at cc. They want you to have taken those courses so you can be considered competative.

But that shouldn’t keep you from applying. You never know

i still applied but it sucks because the other two UC’s i applied to i have no intentions of going to. And i don’t really like the idea of going to SDSU… but oh well best of luck to us!

I feel your pain, man. UCSB is the only UC that offers the major I want. If I don’t get in, that will be the saddest day of my life. I’m thinking of staying another year just so I can TAG. I probably won’t do though lol.

What major are you trying to get into @mermaker?

Biological Anthropology. It’s not impacted so hopefully that helps

How do you find out whether a major is impacted or not? The ucsb website is pretty bare relative to the other uc’s.

A UCSB rep at my community college told me. I just want to add for those people who are taking the transferable math during spring. UCSB will look at your math prerequisites to determine admission. So if one applicant has A’s in, say, Int Algebra and Elementary Algebra, he’ll have a better shot at getting admitted vs a guy that has B’s in those remedial math classes.

UCSB Bio.
TAG
3.35 GPA
IGETC done
Prereq missing O chem and 1 physics course.
Gen chem 1 and 2 in progress.

anyone wanna chance me? =d

Economics, GPA: 3.52, All pre-reqs but one.

Political Science. 3.64 gpa, major prereqs complete, missing bio with lab (otherwise will have full completion of IGETC)<-- anyone in the same boat here?

A UCSB rep told me that you don’t have to complete all prerequisites on IGETC. Was anyone else told this too?
