Just spoke to an admissions officer who told me they are trying for a class of 4,000 students.
Just some info in case any of you are looking at the fb page and other places to see how many people they will be taking off the waitlist this year like I am
It was seriously 4,000??? They enrolled 4,500 students last year and 4,900 the year before so that so that’s definitely worrying for us on the waitlist
Is anyone starting to get excited about their second choice in colleges. At this point, we have already spent $800 in housing and fees, so even if appeal and waitlist are reconsidered, she will decline her offer from UCSB.
@texcalmom I am starting to get excited about my second choice! I found a roommate and it’s like they were made to room with me it’s actually crazy. But yesterday I spent the whole day at sb… I have dreamt about going to sb since forever and my tour literally made me not like it, I had never been soooooo bored in my life.
@sarwhal That’s so awesome that you found a great roommate! My daughter felt the same after Spring Insight, and she had already spent a summer studying there. She is going to SDSU instead. We are OOS, so with a $25,000 difference per year between the 2 colleges, she can see how that money can be put towards scuba lessons, study abroad, rushing, or whatever she decides
@texcalmom just be prepared. I have a sophmore at SDSU and a soon to be frosh at UCSB and before it’s all said and done we are spending close to $25,000 a year as an in state student at SDSU. SDSU is great and the football and basketball games are out of this world!
It feels so weird to commit to another school when your heart is just somewhere completely different. I just want to know the decision already so I can move on and stop thinking about it.
@sarwhal same here. i want ucsb so bad and i’m going to have to commit somewhere outside of california even though i really don’t want to leave /: i’m hoping for the best for all of you
@socalgal5 two years ago the first wave came on May 2nd, last year it came out on May 4th. So the closest answer I can give is during the first week of May but we really have no way of knowing
@schlgurl I called them today and they didn’t really give me much information. I just asked if they knew approximately how many spots are open and she said she doesn’t know. And that they will try and send out decisions as soon as possible but its not guaranteed until June 30th.
@UciDataScience are you going to UCI for DS? I was actually accepted into that program but there was just too much programming in the major (especially C++ which only about 5% of Data Scientist employers require) so I opted for Statistical Data Science at UCD.
