UCSC 2019 Waitlist Thread

people who got off the waitlist - what day is your deadline to accept the offer ?

Did you guys get an email first?

@ocean2redwoods apparently it’s June 1st to SIR at UCSC and I only have 8 days, but I haven’t received my financial aid yet. I got off the waitlist yesterday, 5/21, pretty late if you saw my earlier post. My parents wants to know my financial aid before officially determine if I’ll be going and since I also have Davis waitlist on my hand.

What’s your major?

@Nina coffeebean for me it might’ve been different because the emails about me needing to take a summer course over the summer to catch up bc one of my classes doesn’t fully cover the pre-req course so I have to do that. From that email alone I thought it was weird because I checked my portal to see if I got in, but I didn’t yet. It was after I responded to them that I will be taking the summer course that they then send me another email a day or two shortly of my invitation to join the UCSC Facebook group (basically a indication of acceptance since every person that were accepted got the email). After that email, I checked my portal and I got in. The actual acceptance was few hours later.

@lunalunaluna look on bottom of page 3, I’m Business Management Economics major. I posted my acceptance yesterday.

My daughter got off the waitlist this evening at 5:03PM… She got accepted to her primary major which is TIM … We are not sure if she will take it.

she gets to decide by 05/28

got in for comp eng. Most likely will not commit.

Son got off the waitlist today for Computer Science, Game Design. He has until Tuesday 5/28 to make a decision. He received an email. Not sure about the portal.

Does anyone whose gotten off the waitlist plan on committing?

My son is thinking about it. UCSC was his first option but he is now set to go to CSUMB. Both have pros and cons.

@expressodepresso I got in as a business major yesterday and will not be committing. Good luck to you!!

DD got off the waitlist last night. She most likely will not accept the offer, but will think about it. She is already happily enrolled at SDSU with a roommate, housing contract, and orientation date. (I think it is harder to switch schools when so much is established at her current school.) Plus, the two are very different schools and I think she now likes what SDSU has to offer (football, more traditional campus, more access to medical related internships, closer to home). For what it is worth, she was waitlisted with a 4.0 GPA, 1440 SAT, and lots of leadership and extracurricular activities. We were surprised by the waitlist but just proves that all UC decisions are unpredictable. Good luck to those still waiting for decisions.

@encinitas5 congrats to your daughter! I would think attending SDSU would be much cheaper compared to UCSC considering how close the school is to home

Two students from my D school got off the WL yesterday… the two were at least top 10% in their grade one Biomedical and one Undecided… sorry I don’t have the exact stats, but out of her whole school only 4 were offered admission.

Do they look at your attendence?

Attendance in what?

Like how many times you cut/tardy/self signed out, etc?

If the absences are excused than it doesn’t matter. I don’t think they look at attendance at all anyways.
